Vehicle Detail

UP FOR AUCTION 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible GT-350 Shelby Tribute. As written in the Shelby American World Registry, Carrol Shelby made only four 1966 GT-350 convertibles. They proved to be too costly to make and the idea was dropped. The next Shelby convertible would not be built untill 1968. So I copied my father's original 1966 GT- 350 fastback, and built my own GT- 350 Shelby convertible to what I believe Carrol Shellby should have done in 1965. Today it is believed that the 4 original 1966 GT-350 prototype convertibles are at the top of the price range of all Shelbys produced. (they are so rare and unique they have never been up for sale and thought to be worth hundreds of thousands) It was also one of Carrol Shelbys favourite cars to drive. (Believe me I know why, the car is a blast to drive and you will not pass one person that does not stare at you.) He regretted not building more of these cars in 1966, so in 1980 he had 12 more 1966 continuation GT 350 convertibles built.. If you want a unique tribute of one of the most valuable shelbys ever made this is it! Car has been restored to a high quality and has been inspected and certified for British Columbia, Canada collector plates. There are approximately 2,000 miles since restoration and the odometer shows 61,000 original miles. This car was originally from Chico California and is absolutely rust free. A totally absolute stripped down nut and bolt restoration has been done. No expense spared. The paint is ford shelby original candy apple red with polar white stripes painted on to original dimensions. New tinted front windshield. New deluxe white pony interior. Includes new carpet, GT350 floor mats, sun visor, dash kick panels, etc. New white convertible top with flawless working power rag and matching white boot. Rebuilt pump and new rams. Trunk includes original spare tire, deluxe tire cover, trunk mat and jack storage bag. (Full car cover also included, stored in trunk) Shelby upgrades are....chrome monte carlo bar, chrome export brace, shelby underride traction bars, shelby front spoiler, lock down hood pins, GT350 fibreglass hoodscoop and side air ducts for rear brake cooling, shelby gas cap, shelby automatic shifter knob, original wood grain deluxe steering wheel, shelby centre cap with matching wood grain 140 mph 1966 instrument panel and matching wood grain glove box, 8000 rpm shelby reproduction dash mounted rpm gauge. Also includes 4 new GT350 magnum 500 wheels with cobra centre caps and new cooper cobra tires 245/60 R14's on the back, and 225/60 R14's on the front. Engine Specifics: Full synthetic motor oil used since new. Top of the line spark plugs and premium gas used since new. The engine is an estimated 325 hp 1965 289 total rebuild, bored 40 over. New pistons, rings, timing chain, oil pump, 3/4 race comp cam, turned crank..chrome oil pan. The heads are1969 351 windsor heads ported , polished and gasket matched to intake and exhaust, full roller rockers topped by cobra valve covers.(Will trade for nicely done never used 289 heads.) Intake manifold is a reproduction of the orginial 2x4 barrel intake highrise, also ported and polished and gasket matched to the heads. The carbs are 2-390 cfm fully polished with a shelby manual choke on the back carb, topped off with a cobra oval air cleaner (includes 2 extra air filters and single 4 barrel plates) The exhaust is 2 1/2 " GT350 racing side exhaust hooked to a pair of shelby tri-y headers. Everything else underneath the hood, radiator, alternater, starter, fuel pump, water pump, battery, gas tank, shocks are new or rebuilt. Original rebuilt distributer degreed with pretronic electronic ignition All drums turned and new brakes. The transmission is a rebuilt c4 transmission with shift kit chrome transmission pan. Rear end gears are 2.75-1. I have nearly $40,000 into the car.
