Take a look at our photo slide show! Take a look at our video walk around and test drive! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEAbEn-2z1M Call Ann if you have any questions on this Geo at 623-695-9686. You are bidding on an official 1992 Geo Metro XFI 2-door hatchback. It’s in extra nice shape for an XFI, which only accounted for less than 10% of the Geo Metro’s hatchbacks that were made during the early 1990s. It has been senior owned by my 83 year old neighbor for the last five years. He drove it about once a week about 5-10 miles to run errands. He’s driven it to Texas and back with no problems. There is some discrepancies as to whether the mileage on the car is 45K or 145K. He swears when he bought it five years ago, the owner promised it had 45K original on it. The Auto Check that comes along with this auction says something different. I can say that it wouldn’t be the first time the Motor Vehicle Department has made a mistake, if that’s the case. That being said, I just don’t know. The last MVD entry says 45,000 in 2009. It certainly drives down the road like it only has 45,000, as it’s smooth, does not rattle, shimy or pull to either side. The engine idles very nice. This is a clear Arizona title, that is notorized and ready to go to it’s new owner. It shows no signs of any accidents. This Geo Metro is especially clean for a 20 year old vehicle. There are no cracks in the dash, no rust under the frame what so ever. The original paint is shiny, other than the normal wear and tear of pits, scratches, and minor dents. It must have been garaged for a good part of it’s life. The engines has good compression in all three cyclinders. The axles don’t click, transmission shifts into all gears like it should. The tires are in good shape and the Geo donut spare is in place. The glass is good, no cracks or pits. This Geo Metros radio has been removed, but I will put in a new CD/AM/FM stereo if the reserve is met. The front drivers seat shows some wear. The hood of the car has a dent on the front. I have documented all the major scratches and dents in the photo slide show and video that accompanys this auction. Here are some more facts on the Geo Metro Xfi that you may not know from an XFI enthusiast: Yes - as hard as it may be to believe, there was once an even more stripped-down, even more efficient version of the already legendarily stingy Metro 3-cylinder hatchback. How much more efficient? EPA 53 city / 58 hwy In 1994, the XFi was rated at 53/58 US mpg city/hwy - that's an astounding 15%/18% better than a regular '94 3-cylinder, 5-speed Metro. All Geo Metros came standard with a 1.0 liter, 3-cylinder engine. The XFi model was designed for maximum fuel efficiency. It had a lighter curb weight, different computer, camshaft and transmission than the base or LSi models. It also had less comfort and convenience options than the other models. It boasted 53 city/58 highway mpg numbers and received "Most Fuel Efficient car in America" for all six years of its production. It was dropped after the '94 model year because of slow sales. To put it simply, the XFi was the automotive embodiment of the less is more philosophy - and thus it remains the king before which all Metro fuel economy nerds bow down. (If you speak imperial or metric, it's 63.6/69.7 mpg, or 4.4/4.1 L/100 km.) Of all the Metros sold during the period it was offered (1989-1994), less than 10% wore the XFi badge - er, sticker. So they would have been easy to miss. But on top of that, if you're Canadian, you're even less likely to have seen one because I don't believe they were ever sold here at all (which is truly ironic, considering they were built in Ontario for the North American market). No, for five short years, the XFi drove past US gas stations only, rolling proof that less is more: - lighter curb weight (1621 vs 1650 lbs for the LSi) - no passenger side mirror - no a/c - different engine computer - different cam shaft & sprocket - different piston design (2 vs 3 rings) - taller final drive - 49 hp / 58 lbs-ft vs 55 / 58 We will assist in obtaining shipping quotes. On Mar-05-11 at 18:56:20 PST, seller added the following information:I've had the opportunity to drive this Geo Metro about 200 miles since listing the auction. It now has just over 46K on odometer. I have driven it in traffic and it idles nice and the engine stays cool. I've parked it in my driveway and it does not leak any oil or other fluids. The compression check on all three cylinders is as follows: #1 180 psi, #2 160 psi and #3 180 psi. The windows roll up as they should, the door handles in and out work as they should, and the engine inspection done by my mechanic shows light engine wear which leaves us to believe the 46K miles could be actual.
