Vehicle Detail
Here is an absolutely spectacular un-restored vintage Buick convertible! This is a 1966 Buick "Special-Deluxe" convertible. It is just like a 1966 Skylark, except it has slightly different exterior chrome trim and has a straight bench front seat rather than one with a center arm rest. Also, similar to a Buick GS except it has a smaller V8 engine. This car a GM "A" bodied car meaning it shares the same basic platform and construction as a Chevelle, Olds Cutlass (or 442), and Pontiac GTO (or Tempest, or LeMans) from the same era. This classy mid-sized Buick "ragtop" features a "Wildcat 310" V8 engine with 2bbl carb and dual exhaust, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, factory chrome wheels, and power convertible top. Except for 1 repaint in the original color over 28 years ago, this is an all original un-restored "Survivor" car with only 58,000 original miles! I am only the third owner! This car has been pampered and garaged all its life! It has original drive train, interior, bumpers, bright trim, and even convertible top (still in great shape)! It is not rusted or dented. Surprisingly, this is one of the dryest, tightest convertibles I have ever owned! I have never had it leak water in the rain or when I have washed it. This is very unusual for a convertible. Also, car runs and drives super! It is smooth, powerful, and quiet! I have not had it leak or burn oil. I drove it on both an 800 mile and a 950 mile trip in the last few months with no issues. Also, I have been driving it locally in nice weather with no problems. It always starts right up, automatic choke works, has great oil pressure, and does not overheat or smoke etc. This would make someone a great fun "driver: or tour car for trips or going to cruise-ins, shows, etc. Recent repairs and updates include: 1. New radiator, heater core, and hoses 2. New belts. 3. Carburetor rebuilt 4. Dual exhaust system 5. New gas shocks. 6. Full tune-up including plugs, points, cap, rotor, filters, vacuum advance, and wires 7. Fuel pump replaced 8. Water pump repaced 9. Brakes and wheel cylinders, and master cylinder replaced. 10. Transmission rebuilt. It was leaking, and it was only $200 more to completely go through transmission rather than just fix leaks. Chrome and trim are all very nice and shiny. Paint also is neat, glossy, and not faded. Convertible top and rear window look and work fine. Interior is absolutely spectacular! No rips or tears. Not faded or worn. Original convertible top boot is included and is in excellent condition. In short, this is a great "turn-key" car; not a frame-off "trailer queen" show car, but a super nice reliable fun car to drive. This car is the same size, and has the same basic styling as a 1966 or 1967 Chevelle convertible. Buy this nice convertible for a fraction of Chevelle or GTO money and have just as much fun! Don't miss it!!! It should be noted that "Survivor" (original, well kept, un-altered) cars are the up and coming thing in the collector car hobby. A car is only new and original once! If someone Gave you a "basket case" or "project car" for free, you could not restore it or turn it into the quality of this car for the price you can purchase this one for. These cars are a lot better than the volatile paper investments, plus they are something you can really enjoy as a family, too Please call me at 704-661-1326 (leave message if not in) with any questions about this car. About me: I collect and fool with nice un-restored vintage "survvor" cars from the late 1950s to the early 1980s. I keep a "rotating collection" of about 6 cars. I will sometimes sell a car out of the collection to make way for a new arrival. This is one of those cars. I also somtimes will offer a nice inexpensive regular used auto for sale. I have been at the same location for over 23 years, and have been an old car hobbyist for over 35 years! Again, please call me at 704-661-1326 with any questions. Now for the rules: 1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! 2. A NON-REFUNDABLE $2000 partial payment is due within 48 hours of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer aor cashiers check. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. 3. Balance is due within 7 days of auction's close. This can be by bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash in person. If you are paying balance upon pickup of car, it must be cash in person. 4. Car and title will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. No exceptions! 5. Car is sold strictly as-is at my pemisies with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. 6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it still YOUR responsibility. 7. I understand with winter weather, you may not want to pick up car right away. That is fine, I will work with you to keep car here for a reasonable amount of time. However, car still must be paid for within the 7 days, and I am not responsible for acts of God or circumstances beyond my control. You should arrange insurance on the car while it is here as I cannot be responsible for this. 8. An administrative fee of $150.00 will be charged in addition to the bid price. This goes toward my advertising expenses, paperwork, temp tag, etc. It does not cover all of these expenses, but goes toward defraying some of them. 9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 with any further questions about this. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for looking! Again, please feel free to call 704-661-1326 with any questions. Spring is just around the corner! Now is the time to buy a nice convertible, as prices will only be higher then! Thanks for looking, asking, and bidding!
