USA sale only. This car has just recently had over $4,000 worth of engine/transmission work to make correct. (please see supporting images — light blue documents) FEBRUARY UPDATE Steering coupling has been replaced, generator light fixed, reserve lowered GENERAL DESCRIPTION Well-sorted 1964 Porsche 356C T-6 Coupe (chassis #127578) Original numbers matching engine (#730838) and transaxle (#73453, 740/OC). If you are over 54 years old, then you can recall much of what you did on the day this car was built – 11/22/63.Reutter bodied coupe has great provenance…purchased in late 1963 for European delivery, this classic comes with a color copy of the Purchase Order dated October 9, 1963, the original Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin dated November 22, 1963, as well as a copy of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Ordered well-equipped with options to include leather seats, an AM/FM radio, European heater, chrome luggage rack, rear seat luggage straps and cocoa floor mats, this coupe was picked up in Germany and then driven around Europe on vacation before being shipped back to the Los Angeles. Also included are the shipping documents from Germany to Los Angeles dated January 29, 1964 as well as a huge file of work orders/receipts dating back to 1964. The car then spent the next three and a half decades in Los Angeles, so the car is very solid…definitely not a rust bucket. The car underwent an undocumented restoration about twenty years ago, at which time it was totally disassembled to include the engine out, interior removed, windows out etc. and was color changed from the original Signal Red to silver metallic. At that time a new interior was installed to include recovering the leather seats and a new headliner. The car has just undergone (summer 2010) a “refreshing” to include a windows-out, basecoat/clear-coat repaint, so the finish is smooth as glass with great gaps (sans passenger door) and no dings, dents or scratches. The interior has also just been refreshed (summer 2010) to include new square-weave carpet and cocoa floor mats, new door and interior panels as well as a new dash cover. The glass and chrome are in good order and most of the rubber seals have just been replaced. The original engine and transaxle have also been rebuilt (undocumented) and now have less than 30K miles on the clock. When rebuilt a new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and clutch release bearing were installed, as well as a rebuilt distributor, brakes and shocks etc. were fitted. The original Zenith carburetors have also just been rebuilt (2010), so the car runs great and is mechanically sound. The car comes fitted with a period correct AM/FM radio (does not work), chrome luggage rack, rear seat luggage straps, new tires mounted on Lemmerz 4.5” chrome wheels (not original: dated stamped 1963, 1964, 1965 and two in 1967), new battery, spare tire and jack, tool kit, reproduction owner’s manual and two sets of keys to include the glove box and transmission lock. The lights, turn signals, gauges, horn, windshield wipers/washers, heater, etc. all work. The radio and clock do not work. This 356 does not leak or smoke, idles smoothly, accelerates with no hesitation, shifts effortlessly, tracks arrow-straight. Current NADA Values: Low-$32,900 • Average-$37,400 • High-$50,500 OWNERSHIP TRAIL The first owner, Mr "D" of Los Angeles (age 85), owned the car for 19 years. Mr D kept meticulous documentation. I recently researched, found, and spoke with Mr D. He is a delight. The second owner, Mr "H" of San Marino, California, owned the car from 1983 to 2000. He must have been a Nervous Nelly, because he kept no paperwork and took the original California black plates (OLN 577). This is where the restoration and second engine rebuild is claimed. The third owner, "G", a New Jersey dealer, stored it indoors for 10 years (2000-2010). The fourth owner, Mr. "LL" of San Diego, a 356 flipper, tuned it, painted it and replaced the carpet & tires. I am the fifth owner (10/2010 -present) WHY IT'S A "MIDDLE OF THE PACK" CAR no longer factory Signal Red • passenger door does not fit flush between handle and window (by 1/4 of an inch) silver over spray on jacking points and battery box • no documentation from 1983 to 2009clock and radio do not work • mechanical tachometer cable rattles when cold REASON FOR SALE I am selling to make room for a To be determined "museum quality", "still smells new" 911 SC from my high school era.
