Vehicle Detail
Here’s something very, very special….. A 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28. When was the last time you saw a REAL 1972 Z-28 for Sale!!! 1972 is the lowest production year for Z-28's by far with a mere 2575 cars being built!! What makes this car so unique is that it was produced in Midnight Bronze (Code 68) with White Interior (Code 780) and has a column shift. Talk about a sleeper!!! I recently purchased a number of cars from the estate of a noted Florida collector and each will be offered on Ebay over the coming weeks. This is a 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 that has been sitting for many years in an enclosed warehouse/museum. It appears that restoration was started but not completed. Please Note: I am not a second generation Camaro expert, so I encourage you to come inspect this car personally or to ask any questions you might have, Keep in mind that any inspections must be completed prior to auction ending. Once the auction has ended and the reserve has been met the sale is final as stated below. Title: I have the California Title and current Registration in hand and both are in my name. Here are the details as best as I can tell: Body: The car is painted in it's original Midnight Bronze color and the body panels all appear to be in good condition. There are various chips and scratches and a few dings as well. It is an older paint job and there is some evidence of poor prep in a few areas. I am uncertain to what extent any body work may have been done previously. The Frame appears to be in good condition and I don't see any rust issues. The floors and suspension components appear to also be in generally good condition as best as I can tell. All glass appears to be in good shape and the bumpers have some minor pits. The VIN tag is in place on the dash and reads: 1Q87L2N151941. The "L" confirms this as an authentic 1972 Z-28 as does the Z28 ZR8 designation on the Trim Tag. The car also has Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, 15x7 Rally Wheels, Positraction, Tachometer with Full Instrumentation, AM Radio, Original GM Floor Mats and Tinted Glass. Interior: The interior is White in color. The dash pad is generally in good condition as is the carpet and headliner. The door panels are weathered and the seat covers have rips. In other words, the car will basically need a complete new interior. There are also extra parts in the trunk that go with the car. Engine/Transmission Details: This car appears to have been off the road since 1977 based on the inspection sticker. It appears that the previous owner was in the process of removing headers and replacing the exhaust manifolds when they stopped working on the car. There is no exhaust system on the car now, however the exhaust manifolds, carb, air cleaner and other parts are in the trunk. The engine is believed to be an LT-1 but I'm not absolutely certain if it is or not or if it's original or not to the car. It does have the 3970010 casting on the rear indicating it is a 4-bolt main 350 engine, but I don't see any stamped numbers in the front. It has the wide harmonic balancer, 3227186 2.02 valve heads with screw-in studs and guide plates, finned valve covers, deep groove pulleys throughout, etc and it has obviously been in the car for an extended period of time based on the aged residue on it. It will undoubtedly need to be rebuilt. The Turbo 400 transmission appears to be original and it has the original "Yellow 1972" metal ID tag still affixed to it. The rear end is a posi and it too has the metal positraction id tag still attached. I have no idea how roadworthy the car is, but I would assume it will need all mechanicals rebuilt and restored. It obviously does not run, however it rolls just fine. Summary: This would make an excellent project for someone who wants to take their time and restore it properly. It is very presentable and ready for a new owner. This is a SUPER RARE CAR and an ideal candidate for a frame-up restoration. The car's history mileage is unknown. Sold in AS-IS Condition: I want to be very clear about this car. This car will need work and I am certain there will be missing and damaged parts that will need to be located and purchased to make it complete. It will need interior parts, misc engine parts, weatherstrips and other unknown items. Restoration work appears to have been started by the previous owner(s) but it was not completed. That said, this vehicle is being sold in absolutely AS-IS condition with no warranty of any kind whatsoever and the sale is final. There is no expressed or implied warranty as to the condition or completeness of the vehicle. Inspections are welcomed and I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. High bidder will be responsible for pick-up and transportation at their expense which must occur within 3 weeks of purchase. Payment for vehicle must occur in full within three (3) business days via wire or cashier’s check. Failure to make required $1000 Deposit Payment within 48 hours of listing close shall result in car being offered to the next highest bidder or party of the sellers choosing. Good luck and Bid to Win!!On Feb-18-11 at 11:46:55 PST, seller added the following information: To answer a few misc questions that I received: Yes, the rear bumper guards are in the box of extra parts that go with the car. Yes the original AM radio is included and in the trunk too. Yes, the exhaust manifolds have provisions for smog. Yes, the car has the speedometer gear-reducer unit and spedo cable still attached to the transmission. Yes it has an aluminum performance intake and Holley carburetor. Yes the car has the original positraction rear end with factory rear sway bar in place and original positraction tag still affixed to the rear end cover. Yes, there are a few scratches on the door glass. And finally, No, I don't see any evidence of rust or bubbles on the front lower fenders, quarter panels or door corners. Good Luck to Everyone.
