Vehicle Detail
1978 Ford Bronco 4x4 Custom Wagon—170,041 Miles VIN: U15HLBA3193 Driven off dealer lot by original, and only owner, with 49.5 miles on odometer on April 13, 1978. Almost 33 years later, original owner moving, leaving behind this Bronco now in need of a Bronco Project Enthusiast who wants to return this inaugural-year-full-size Bronco to its former glory days. For information on why 1978 Broncos are coveted, go to www.projectbronco.com then click on “Bronco History.” See History & Development of the 1978 to 1979 Ford Bronco and History & Development of the 351M/400. Manufacturer Description: 351M CID Engine Hard Fiberglass Top—White RH Passenger Seat Power Tailgate Window Front Headliner Color: Crème Gauges—Ammeter and Oil Automatic Transmission Axle Limited Slip-Rear Steering: Power GT Bar Spare Tire Carrier Swing Away Mirrors—Dual Western—Bright Front Bumper Push Bar Air Conditioner Rear Seat—Flip Fold Windows—Sliding Side Glass Tinted—All Around Wheels Styled Steel—White Fuel Tank—Max. Capacity Final Assemble Point: Michigan Truck Owner Notes: Truck has not been driven since November 6, 2005. Truck started, ran, and was driven up until then. Only driven 1,128 miles from March 20, 2001 to November 6, 2005. With fully charged battery truck will no longer start today. I’m assuming this is due to too many years of limited usage, and then non-use. Vast majority of life was parked in a garage or under a carport. Most off-road use was on the Alaska Highway (1978), and in Big Bend National Park; Bronco never went “mudding.” Always been located in the Houston, Texas area. Never flooded. Have written records in two notebooks describing all work done. Includes Owner’s Manual, a complete set of 1978 Shop Manuals, some pages in bad shape, possibly missing, due to age/insect abuse, three spare belts never used (Dyna-Cord Automotive Drive Belts 17515 DC & 15415 DC, & Dayco Automotive Belt 15410), and about 30” of never-used 5/8” heater hose. U-Haul hitch attached and included (capacity: weight carrying hitch—5,000 lbs.; capacity: load distributing hitch—8,000 lbs). Rear side windows are not one big solid piece, and can be opened. Black bumpers, chrome side-mirrors, rear spare-tire carrier. Solid-State AM-FM Radio w/8-Track Stereo Tape Player (don’t think tape player works anymore; don’t have tape to test it). See pictures for general condition of vehicle and the list below for age-related decay and damage one might expect for over three decades of use. No list on a vehicle this old can completely cover everything, so please contact with specific concerns or questions. Rear tailgate glass was replaced and turned out to be slightly thicker than the original; it became a case of helping the window up or down with one hand while using the key with another to activate the electric motor. Seats are torn, split. Black plastic flooring has some cracks. Front windshield has two running cracks, multiple “stars.” Window film torn, bubbled.Plastic dome light cover cracked open.Part of passenger-side inner door panel broken.Exterior body has some rust, dings, and dents.Latch to small, triangular driver-side window bent out a bit hampering function.Small, black plastic hub covering missing from front driver-side tire.Chrome-looking accents strips lining wheel wells are loose, with one missing entirely.Plastic door sleeves around both front door closure posts are missing; doors are a bit loose when closed because of this.Four Bridgestone Dueler APT tires (30x9.50R15LT, Load Range C); less than 8,000 miles on tires, but they’re over 12 years old. Spare is Dunlop RV Radial Rover (30x9.50R15LT, Load Range C).Heater hose removed from heater coil. Heater not working.A/C not working. Non-refundable deposit is required through PayPal. The remaining balance will need to be paid through a cashiers check. The Bronco will need to be hauled away (on flat bed), rather than towed due to the age of tires and years of non-use. Please let me know if you have any questions.
