Vehicle Detail
Very rare 65 short wheelbase fj45 removable hard top,the least produced of the early fj45's.This is a great start to a very unique truck. My goal was to put together a rare 45 with a toyota 3b diesel,turbo,5 spd,4 wheel disk, power steering, power brakes, etc, basically an old truck that runs and drives reliably and safely.I started with a well worn 65 factory short wheelbase removable hard top fj45.I think it originated from oregon, and was in montana for several years where I bought it from.I bought it with no engine or trans,or bed.I found an original bed,but it was left out in the elements with about 6 inches of sand in it so it needs a complete floor replacement and the rear sill, but is solid and can be rebuilt. The rest of the truck is pretty good, the floors are thin in some areas and need to be patched,as well as the rockers, some holes coming through. The upper cab and top are rust free and very solid. It had the original red paint and now is rattle can textured green, but has no bondo and only one coat of paint over the original color. The drivetrain consists of a low mileage (120k miles)toyota 3b from an 83 bj42,h55 5 spd(160k)split transfercase, installed with factory engine mounts with the correct offset and cant to the left.Engine has an isuzu exhaust manifold with a t3 flanged turbo from a mercedes om617.Makes 10 psi and runs great, pulls nicely and really makes the 3b come alive and fun to drive.Front and rear disk brakes, with fj60 outers, asian hubs, rear gm metric, power booster with adapter,ps pump still mounted and comes with fj60 steering gear for conversion(doesnt need it with these tires)Freshly powder coated disk wheels with rare early hub caps.Brand new 29x8.50x15 super swamper tsl tires. The plan was to get it running and driving and sorted, and then tear down for a cosmetic restoration. That is where I stopped. It can be driven daily with a few more hours of work(some headlight wiring,Wilson switch for the glow plugs( No edic)misc small stuff. All the hard work is done, and should be a quick resto, because all the hard work and hard to source parts are there. Please serious only, check my feedback, yours should be the same,I will not sell to anyone with o feedback or neg. Will help load on to shipping truck..Thanks for looking and good luck.
