Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1989 Pontiac 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am. Pontiac selected roughly 1555 GTA's from the assembly line and sent them to PAS Engineering to complete the 20th Anniversary package. Each of these extremely collectible anniversary cars were produced with every available option that could be ordered including stereo controls in the steering wheel. This example is car #1075 in the total production run of 1555 and is totally stock, no modifications, with glass T-Tops and tan leather interior. Combining the legendary 3.8 Buick Turbo V6 powerplant from the Buick Grand National and GNX with Pontiac's WS6 Performance Package definitely creates one of the best looking, handling, and performing American sports cars to be remembered. If you've done the research you are already aware that this car came from the factory ready to pace the 1989 Indy 500 race without any performance enhancements or modifications. The only difference between the actual pace cars at the race and the rest of the production units was the flashing lights that were required to be on the roof while the pace cars were on the track. Although Pontiac had reason to celebrate the creation of one of the fastest production cars of its time, they were forced to derate the published horsepower number from slightly over 300hp to 250hp because no other GM model was allowed to be advertised with more horsepower than the current year Corvette. However, I'm not sure how GM was going to explain why the Turbo Trans Am (TTA) would leave the Vette at every stop light and handle the road like no other Sports car of its day. Even twenty two years later this car will still impress you with its performance. There really is nothing else like it. Unfortunately, Pontiac is no longer here for us to enjoy, but atleast they will be remembered by a product such as this that rightfully deserves its place in American automotive history. Despite being one of the lowest mileage 20th Anniversary Trans Ams available for sale, 20,845 original miles to be exact, this car looks and performs better than most others I've seen, and I've seen plenty. I owned a 400 original mile TTA several years ago, but sold it because I was afraid to drive it. After missing my first one so much I began looking for another TTA with some miles on it, that way I could justify owning one and driving it more than the first one. I searched for a well maintained and well cared for TTA and finally found my current TTA, #1075. This TTA is a great car with each and every mechanical system and factory option operating and functioning as it did when it was new. It drives and handles wonderfully. Each time I take it out of its climate controlled bubble and go for a drive I'm instantly reminded how special these cars are and from the looks you get it seems like others appreciate it too. The troublesome factory spoiler that eventually cracks has been replaced and the left bolster section of the driver's seat shows the usual wear. Other TTA owners said that the seat is an easy fix, but since my leather isn't ripped or torn I was told not to repair it. Since the car has been driven there are some small paint chips, but that is the extent of anything that would keep this vehicle from being considered flawless. There is no rust anywhere, no damage history, no leaks, interior close to perfect condition, no rips or holes, never smoked in, new tires and battery, fluids changed, car inspected, and clear title. I thought I would drive this car more than I do, but because of how special it is I find myself not wanting to put the miles on this one either. Deciding whether or not to drive a collectible car is a personal preference and for me I think it's time to give someone else the opportunity to decide how they want to enjoy this truely incredible car. Thank you and happy bidding.
