Vehicle Detail
RELISTING The prior buyer doesn't have the money for the car and should not have bid without asking his mother first. The restoration market isnt for everyone. If you want everything new, please purchase a replica. This is a real 58 year old car. It does require some attention. Adult bidders only please. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION You are looking at a Rare Classic Black 1953 Porche 356 Coupe, Reutter N/R #51349. It has been partially restore with a re-upolstered head-liner, new tan corduroy seats, and door panels. The front dash is in nice shape as well. New paint in 1992 and new rubber seals around the glass. The car sits on good stock 16 inch wheels. The 1954 engine # 32901 was bench tested by Tom Bruch's of Bruch's Motorwerke of Iowa City. I purchased the car from Hal Linson in Iowa. His father purchased the car in 1977. We still have the engine out of the car (pictured), but are working to get it in by the time the car is delieved. Presently, there is a VW temporary engine in the vehicle. Light wiring still needs work, but all parts are with the car. Interior dash and stering wheel are original and the body is solid. A new floor pan was put in by previous owner. New door hinges. We have been working to complete, but unable to find more time. I have a Porsche 993 C4S which I enjoy, but I need to sacrifice this car. Don't buy a replica or a incomplete rusty basket case when you can have a solid running vehicle with-in a couple of weeks of ownership. We are just now pulling this one out of the shed and moving it to the carriage house for final prep. More pictures to come. The pictures show the car with dust on it. The paint's shine still comes through. If you are in town for the International Auto-Show, the car is located approx. 50 minutes north of Detroit. The car is in Fenton, MI, just north of Ann Arbor. Call me if you would like to take a look at the car while you are here. 810/877-5253. Serious calls only please. All questioned welcome. TERMS OF SALE The car is listed locally and notice of the sale has been sent to 365 Registry, and the local Porche P4 Club. I reserve the right to stop the sale at any time. 50% of the final price is required within 48 hours. Balance within 72 hours. Cash, Bank Wire or Cashier's Check. If the reserve price is met and paid in full, then delivery of the vehicle within the lower 48 states is included in the price. Delivery includes the use of a insured transportation company and or other means to deliver the vehicle timely and in at-sale condition. Car will be delivered as soon as possible within standard transportation guidelines, and weather premitting. Overseas interest and delivery will be the responsibility of the buyer, FOB. I will assist in getting the car to the proper sea port location for pick-up if needed. The car is sold as-is. No warranty or guaranties written of implied. The car is a good solid car to complete restoration and drive for years. It, like most cars this age, will need work and maintenance to make the car your own. I will make sure in final prep the car is running and drivable for easier onboarding. Pre-A(s) have the best lines of all of the 365's coupes. You don't have that short little window to worry about and they look "24 Hours of Le Mans" ready. Thank you for taking the time to look at this auction. On Jan-18-11 at 01:07:42 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE I have received a lot of great e-mails and questions about the car. The most important is the following: One fan e-mailed me and said the front horn vents were not available on 1953 356. First available on late 1954 and 1955 models from what I am being told. This is the first I was made aware and I have calls out to the person in Iowa who tested the engine to see if I can get an explanation. The previous owner passed away. The VIN and title says 1953. When I purchased the car I was more taken by its looks and missed the horn vent detail on the front. I want everyone who is bidding on the car to have full disclosure so you are happy with your purchase. I will post more pictures by noon from under the car. Thank you again for your interest. On Jan-23-11 at 15:58:12 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE (cont.) As more e-mails come in, I have to respond and pass the information on to anyone watching or bidding. Here is the lastest. This car, based on the VIN number, is a early model 1954 356. Two watchers have sent e-mails stating such. I am still comfirming with 356 Registry. If confirmed, I have a clear title with the wrong year on it, based on what I received from the previous owner in Iowa. No, I did not check it at the time of purchase. The car has been sitting since. However, I will not pass the car on without fixing the problem. I will find out how to get the title to reflex the proper year with the proper VIN. I will get back to you. Everything else is as stated. I may stop the auction and relist after I have this confirmed and fixed. If you are seriously interested in the vehicle please send me a message and your e-mail address. I will follow up. Thank you for all of the questions and interest in this vehicle.
