For sale is this Early Ford V8, 1936 Five Window Standard Coupe. Great history, right colors, right options...one of the best documented, straight, California examples you will find anywhere! Multiple award winner in the states. This may be the best documented, original California example available .A true piece of American automotive history with 64,000 miles. Original bill-of-sale, registration and original license plates. CA Ford dealer bought for his wife; in the same family until 2006. Rare options include "Pines Trim" dealer installed option, wind wings and hydraulic assist mechanical brakes. Restored 1994, plus many, many upgrades since. Straight, clean, unmolested, quality vehicle…this car is the real thing. HISTORY The original owner - Mr. South On February 25, 1936, Mr. South purchased the Five Window Coupe for $585.00 from his local Ford dealership the Upland Motor Company in Southern California. The original Retail Buyer’s Order shows that he traded in his 1927 Model T Coupe for $40.00, and this document still remains with the car today!! At that time, city records show that he was the owner/salesman of the Company. In 1964, he moved to Arkansas, taking the coupe with him and the car remained in the family, even after his passing. In 1994, it was given a repaint of the correct original color: Cordova Tan. That paint job is currently in excellent condition. In 2006, the South family contacted a (distant) relation that they knew was into old cars, in Big Bear, CA. The car was acquired, and then began the process of freshening up the coupe. He kept meticulous records/receipts, and did the research on Mr. South and the dealership. The coupe even has the pair of original 1936 CA license plates.. What is included with the Coupe Original Sales Receipt / Original DMV CertificateOld Titles / City of Ontario research letterOriginal ’36 CA plates / Original Hurd keys / Original tools, bag and jackAll the historic / rebuild photos / All of the build receiptsExterior The body is very straight and clean, and shows no signs of rust repair anywhere. The paint is excellent, and has the red pin stripe and rims. The most striking feature is the very rare accessory of Pines trim. Manufactured by the Pines Winterfront Company, this full set of trim is authentic, and was re-chromed in 2006 and the original bumpers were rechromed in 2010. Another rare accessory is the pair of wind wings. The coupe has the spare tire and cover with lock, tilt out windshield, roll down back window, the rumble seat compartment is correct and spotless, and the coupes fantastic lines are highlighted by the BF Goodrich wide whites. Interior The LeBaron-Bonney interior is clean, correct and comfortable to sit in and drive, and even has its original door cards which are in great condition. The original ash tray radio was rebuilt in 1992, and it works great. The roof is well sealed and there is no staining on the headliner. Interestingly, when the radio was installed, the original ash tray was moved into the dash to the right next to the glove box. Modern temp and oil pressure gauges were added in 2007 . The tilt out windshield, roll-down rear window and door glass all work smoothly and there is zero wind noise driving down the road. The optional wind wings work great providing a nice breeze with no wind noise driving down the road. The glass, which is original is free of cracks and chips…the original WWII fuel rationing “A” sticker remains affixed to the windshield as well as a Roosevelt, Bonneville sticker on the quarter glass. Mechanics The Coupe starts right up, runs and stops great. The dual stainless Red’s Headers and Smithy’s give it a cool, mellow tone driving down the road. The detailed engine compartment hosts the original ’36 LB flathead has been rebuilt (with all receipts) and has modern Mallory ignition, the transmission is solid and does not pop out of gear, the brakes are mechanical with hydraulic assist (another rare, early upgrade). Car retains the original 6 volt electrical system with battery mounted in correct original position under the floorboard. Receipts from 2007/08 for the following: The engine, which runs flawlessly, is a ’36 LB block with 0.060 overbore, NOS cast iron heads, competition bearings and camshaft, lite flywheel, Isky springs, 8BA oil pump, guides and valves, NOS rebuilt water pumps, hoses, belts, re-cored radiator, new motor mounts, fuel pump, fuse block and resistor, 6V cooling fan with switch, spindle bushings, wiring harness and loom, Mallory ignition, king pin bolt/set, service to rear end, full lube and new battery. A brand new “Banjo” steering wheel is included with the vehicle (this car is a standard so is equipped with standard steering wheel). Also included is an extra matching spare tire and wheel (painted the same red color). If you are looking for a truly original, straight, high quality, unmolested special car, this is it!!!. Purchase Details This is a 'blue chip' investment and could be sat in your garage for $41000 all sensible offers entertained.
