This is a 2001 jetta GLS TDI. The car has served me well for years. However in September of 2009 the transmission went out. I was planning on doing the fix myself but with work and family have just not had the time nor do I see the time. The body is solid with normal dings and paint coming of the front grill which is common on these cars. It has four good wheels and tires with a good amount of tred life. The interior shows the wear for the miles but no rips. The radio is not working and I cannot find the right fuse and was told the one I need is behind the radio to fix the problem. Do not know if that is true. The best part of this car is the engine. It is solid and only has 82,074 as it was replaced at just over 160,000 due to the timing belt not being set correctly at the shop. The car starts and you can hear the engine run as it should. The transmission will not go into reverse but will engage to go forward but not well. You would have to tow or trailer the car home. This would be a great car for anyone wanting to do biodiesel or who has the time to fix it. I averaged 44mpg with my mixed driving with this car. For the first seven years almost all miles were highway. I don't drive like I used to but it was a great car on the highway and in town. When I went to almost all town driving I droped to 38mpg. I looked at cost of these engines and have seen them selling for almost three thousand dollars with more miles. Just a reminder this car will need a transmission and cannot be driven home. It must be towed or trailered. Please remember this is a ten year old car and shows wear like it is ten years old. It could use a good cleaning and maybe some floor mats as with 237k i have put the heel though the driver mat. There is paint coming off the grill with minor scratches and dings on the car. The front bumper was pulled off on a curb and has been put back on. It has had no major damage. If you have question please ask before bidding.
