Vehicle Detail
This old Dodge is kinda cool. It has an inline slant 6 cyl motor that runs good and an automatic transmission in perfect working condition. It will be 30 years old next year & eligible for an antique plate. I guess according to the VIN it automatically came up as having a V8 5.9 litre engine & I can not change that but it is definitely a 6 cyl motor. Maybe it is not original, I wouldn't know. It is a carbeurated engine & is a bit cold natured. It starts great, has the fast idle until you kick it off then idles perfectly but before it's warmed up to operating temp you have to play with the throttle some to keep it running when starting out from a stop which is why it doesn't make a real good vehicle for me to drive to work each day. After it's warmed up it runs much better but will still have a slight hesitation. It does have a brand new carbeurator but I have not been able to work out that minor issue. This truck has recently had a lot of front end work done, Has very good tires & is an excellent highway cruiser, getting 20+ mpg. Looking at the body close up, it does have a lot of blemishes, most notably a deep scrape starting at the passenger door handle & goes about 3 feet back the front of the bed. Also dented under the taillight & though the previous owner told me the paint is all original I don't think it is. It looks to me like it has mostly been repainted & possibly even some body work as it looks a little wavy down the side. If there is body work, Rust was not the issue. It is very clean. Some of the chrome is peeling off of the wheels. Truck is equipped with an A/C unit but it doesn't work. It does have a good heater. Overall, the interior looks very good. There's a couple stains on the seat & a couple small burns. The glove box is held on only by the latch so when you open it the whole door comes off. There's no door handles for pulling the doors closed. You have to pull them closed by the latch that opens them. Interior light won't go off so bulb is removed. When fuel tank is full gauge reads full but reads empty long before tank is empty. The latch on the passenger window wing vent is missing but all glass is in excellent condition. I don't think the doors lock properly & when opening the pass door from the outside you have to give a hard jerk. That door has a little crease I think just from pulling the handle so hard. All the lights work but you have to hold the turn signal arm up or down. It doesn't stay on it's own & you also have to flip a little lever with one hand while lifting the latch to open the tailgate. In spite of all the quirky little things, this really is a pretty sweet truck & classic. It does get some looks. It didn't come cheap to me & I don't expect to get out of it what I paid for it but here it is being offered with no reserve for the winning bidder to come & drive it away. Pictured is the hood ornament which I removed. Of course it will go with the truck. It has a great sounding Stereo With CD player. It is ready to be picked up & driven to any destination.
