Up for sale one 94 mercury cougar xr7 ... low mileage only 51K Miles Mercury cougar is in nice shape for the year and only one owner and a clean car fax.... with only a few sighns of wear and tear ...It has AC!! heat blows hot all power options are in excellent working condtion tires have about 60% tread life left this is a great car with super low miles and is priced to sell not a bad color combination comes fully loaded including full leather interior all power options factory alloy wheels power mirrors all books tools and spare are in the trunk this car can be driven just needs a new owner priced way below Blue Book value and Nada Guides please feel free to have vehicle inspected before you bid a local mechanic near us or come see the cougar for yourself ..Now for the car needs.....I just started getting codes P1518 on my cougar which is described as "Bank 1 Intake manifold runner stuck open" Digging around a bit I found lots of good info including a Ford TSB which I've attached (see page attachments). I do have the gas pinging they mention, but surprisingly the TSB doesn't mention the fault code. The bottom line is that what usually causes this is the broken bushings that the TSB describes. Apparently all the Ford V6's have this issue. The unfortunate part is that it is on the back of the intake manifold and very tough to get at. I'm going to try and replace the bushing without pulling everything apart again, but it would have been a piece of cake to replace these when I had the plenum off.
