Vehicle Detail
This is my 71 Chevelle. It was a project car of mine for the last few months. It was a 350ci when I first got the car and the motor and THM350 were shot. I replaced the stock motor with a 454ci. 4Bolt main V8 bored 30over making it a 461ci. I added a engine oil cooler, Edelbrock performer RPM intake, Jegs mild performance cam, Hooker full length headers with wraps and 3" dual exhaust. The motor also has the single belt serpent system. The stock THM350 was replaced with a rebuilt 700R4 overdrive transmission and huge B&M transmission cooler. The electric torque converter lock-up is wired to a switch on the dash and since its an 87-90s model 700R4 you can leave the switch off but its nice on the freeway it makes a big drop in the cruising rpm. The stock rearend is a 10bolt 8.2 with and Auburn mini-spool kit. Inside the carpet and insulation has been replaced and an Rpm, oil pressure, Voltage gauge, and water temp gauge were added. There was no stock radio inside when I bought the car so I added a new pioneer cd player and speakers 6.5 front and 6x9 rear. Not that it really matters with a big block, 3" pipes and dual Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers its a bit loud. The front control arm bushings were replaced with red polyurethane bushings and both upper and lower ball joints were replaced. New front Gabreil and rear Monroe with Coilovers shocks. the car came with standard drum brakes all around with no power assist it has been updated to power brakes and disk front brakes. I have the stock brakes and master cylinder boxed and they are included. Little things that have been changed are: Gas tank, the stock one was dented and full of crap I bought a 23gallon tank from a 95 Chevrolet Caprice it was an upgrade I heard about and it works. It has a factory electric fuel pump still inside thats wired to a 20amp fuse and switch on the dash(the idea was maybe for a Fuel injection setup later). The stock front and rear seats were ruined and changed. The door panels still need to replaced and the Headliner. The body, when I bought it I was told it was perfect but once the car was delivered I noticed a dent in the front driver fender and one above the driver side window. Theres also a dent on the rear driver side quarter panel I was saving the body and paint for last. The wheels on the car were aftermarket 14" I replaced them with 15" wheels with new 245/60R15 front and 295/50R15 rears with tons of tread left. There are things that still need work to make this car perfect. At the moment its my daily driver to work and back. Thing is I have gotten so busy I dont have time to work on it and do my job so I have to buy something more realistic. Even with the overdrive transmission the 454ci is not a gas saver and coming home late at night is not making any new friends with my neighbors(super 44 Loud). This car could be a nice starting point for a drag car with the 4bolt main and late 80s 700R4 just need to replace that rearend and beef up parts. Or you could just finish building it and make it a weekend car, the motor has tons of power and the trans shifts smooth through every gear. All of the electric parts(not many) work, Wipers, lights. The car came with A/C but the lines leading to the condensor need to be replaced. Offers can be made at anytime the car is also listed locally and if your in the area you can came by to check it out.
