Up for sale is a 1999 Ford Ranger electric vehicle (EV). Produced by Ford for 4 years starting in 1998, the nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack option was offered in 1999 and 2000 only. Total production was about 1500 prior to repossession and crushing. This vehicle is very rare indeed, not only is this one of the 300 remaining OEM electric trucks in existence; it has the optional NiMH battery pack AND it is also one of the two 1999 Ford Ranger which liberated ALL other Ford Ranger EVs! In January of 2005, this truck participated in the 10-day protest in Sacramento against the movement to repossesses (despite lease agreements allowing purchase) and subsequent crushing of these electric trucks. Consider the cost to have the following convenience and safety features installed in a conversion: power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, heat, anti-lock brakes and airbags. How much?
