Vehicle Detail
Wow, this is a really neat old car! Its a 1956 Chevy 2 door sedan two-toned ivory and grey. It has the straight 6 cylinder engine and automatic trans. Everything on this car is 100 % original except for one repaint back in the early 80's (original color). I even have the original bill of sale when it was bought new on Feb. 7, 1956. It was ordered with the special two-toned paint, AF heater, OBAC (i'm not sure what that is), Powerglide trans, PAF (not sure what this is either), oil filter, outside rear view mirror, and factory undercoating (which is why this old survivor is so solid). I usually buy restored hot rods but could not pass up this neat old car. It has never been taken apart or hot rodded at all. The great thing about that is it has spent most of its life sitting in someones garage. The shock mounts are in great shape (because no one jacked it up with air shocks in the 70's). The radiator support has never been touched (everyone cut them back in the day to remove and install engines easily). There's no holes in the dash from mounting tachs, and no gauges have been added anywhere. It has all of the original interior, even the seat belts and factory vinyl floor. It even has an old one piece front floor mat that i'm sure you can't find anymore. The drivetrain is all original and works properly. I've test drove it down the road, the transmission shifts properly, rear end is quiet, brakes work, and the steering is tight (does not have power steering). The lights, radio, cig. lighter and heater works. I turned the wipers on and they go up but not back down (vaccum and they don't work too well). The paint is older but still looks pretty good. This is a very solid car and has been painted since the early 80's. it has no rust coming up anywhere. The car had factory undercoating and is good and solid underneathe. The trunk, inner rockers, and floors have no rust at all. The interior looks good for being all original. The vinyl floor mat is coming apart. The headliner isn't hanging down and doesn't have holes but looks old and has turned yellow. The door panels are all intact but look old. The seats are in very good shape (i'm pretty sure that they are original but look awful good so i hate to promise that they are). All of the glass is in good shape except the driver's door glass, it has a crack from the top to bottom. Most of the chrome and stainless trim is in good shape. The bumpers have some pitting and so does the hood emblem. The side stainless would all polish up very well. This is a very nice piece of American history. It would be a good car to keep original as it is, or a very good and solid car to build however you want. The car runs and drives fine as it is, but would make a nice hot rod.
