I spared no expense and used some of the best components available. I purchased the car 3 years ago as complete. The story is, it's one of the first Thunder Ranch cars built in 96 when they were working closely with Beck. So it pretty much IS a Beck. I then disassembled it and spent the next year and a half rebuilding it with all of the components you see listed above. Since it's completion, it's been driven less than 1000 miles. It was driven in Autocross solo 2 events for one season (probably less than 20 miles in competition). Never drag raced, but I imagine 10's would be within reach. I haven't run on the dyno, but experience would say it's close to 300hp at 18 psi boost. The roll bar I had made to meet SCCA and NHRA specs. I wanted it removable but not sure it will pass NHRA tech that way, so I left it solid for now. The experience in this car is like none other. The acceleration is absolutely brutal! A girl once described it as feeling like bungee jumping but horizontal. Another friend said, it's motorcycle fast! and it's true. A lot of sport bikes can't even keep up with it. The feeling this car gives you has to be experienced to really understand. Sometimes I just think about driving it and get a rush of adrenaline. Sounds weird, but it happens. I've built a few fast VW's over the years, but this car takes the cake by far! If you live in the Phoenix area, I would be happy to show the car, although I won't allow anyone to just "test drive" it. This is to protect me, the car, and the potential buyer. A car this light with this much power is in the league of the supercars, and it needs to be driven conservatively until you are familiar and used to how it handles. The boost controller allows you to switch to a lower boost pressure from the drivers seat. You can also control the boost timing from there too. Low boost is currently set at about 10-11 psi, and high boost at 18 psi. The methanol injection is there to help prevent detonation under boost when using "pump" gas. Increasing the boost timing retard also helps prevent this. If you want to achieve the maximum performance from this engine at high boost and with minimal timing retard, I highly recommend using at least 100 octane fuel to avoid pre detonation. There are a lot of Spyders out there, but I've never seen another one that has what this one has. I put so much work and money into it, and I'm really going to miss it, but because of my circumstances, I have to let it go. I'm selling it in this one auction with NO RESERVE, therefore whoever has the highest bid gets it! My time has run out and I won't have a place for it after the first week in february. If you prefer, I have put a buy it now price so you can take it right away if you like. The buy it now price is quite low considering the nature of this car, and I suspect bidding could surpass that figure. It may be the best opportunity to own this car! Good luck, and may the best man win!
