Vehicle Detail
1974 Javelin, set up as a street driven tribute to the Trans Am race series of the early 70s. This car is finished in the Penske color combonation of blue and yellow, with the paint new two stage urethane. The body has been partially dechromed, and features front and rear spoilers, AMX style grill, and new 17x9 wheels with Falken 275x40 tires. The bumpers are newly rechromed. The interior has been redone with new carpet, new high bolster seats, racing harnesses, 4 point roll bar, and custom dash insert with new guages. A hidden heater is under the dash to further the racing look, with the original heater openings in the firewall blocked. A Hurst shifter controls a newly rebuilt auto trans. The motor is the AMC 360 with Edlebrock intake, carb, and distributor, and uses the big valve "dog leg" heads. New dual exhaust, with an X pipe and chambered mufflers are behind the motor. The radiator has been rebuilt and an auxillary electric fan added, the new battery relocated to the trunk, and cold air induction added to the engine. The front end has been rebuilt with PST urethane components, and aligned to specs. KYB shocks are on all corners, the brakes (front disc rear drum) are newly rebuilt. The car was originally sold in L.A. and has spent its entire life in southern California- the only rust was a thumbnail size spot where the original vinyl roof was. The few shortcomings are: the door locks, while operational, are sticky, the fuel and speedo are not accurate (fuel guage requires compatable sender, included but not installed, and the speedo requires an adjusted tooth count on the driven gear.) Lights, wipers, signals are all present and operational. The car is quite "peppy", but completley able to be comfortabley street driven. I've had it to several shows, and it attracts attention- its a fun, cruise night driver, and will be sold for less than the cost of a 15 year old beater import.
