Really the best of the best...the 1600cc twin cam Weber engine is the most free reving of the alfa compared to the 1750 and 2000 versions, and with a 5 speed, four wheel disc brakes, this is a nice, fun, exciting exotic of the mid sixties.. A TON of work has been done to make a sensational example of this beautiful, rare Alfa. The engine starts easy and is strong and cool with no smoke and the transmission shifts easily, even second gear. It features lightweight Panasonic alloy wheels and an expensive new stayfast cloth top with just one slight tear, see photo. Red paint looks new and has only a few minor imperfections and road pits. All four of the original disc brake calipers and rotors have been replaced as well as the master cyl. New suspension including sport springs, adjustible a-arms, bushings and ball joints that lower the car an inch all contribute to the great handling of this car. (this cost well over $3,500 including parts and labor but the brakes and suspension are now first rate, better than new). The car was undercoated long ago yet I scraped off areas to reveal the solid metal and original red paint remains under, see photos. The interior is in beautiful condition and equally attractive as the exterior. From the seats to the dash, door panels and original rubber mats, a nardi wood steering wheel (original also offered with the car) most everything has either been restored, or retained because it is in original condition. Lots of minor items, seat belts, halogen headlights, very good original bumpers and trim, steering box checked and adjusted, cooling system flushed, even polished air ducting and cam covers. Leather seats from a newer alfa have been installed for a more comfortable drive, yet the original seats were recovered in material / pattern similar to the original and they are included with the car too. The radio in the car is an older, period style AM push-button blapunkt that would have been added by the dealer in the 1960's time frame. It does not work and does not appear to have a speaker (no speaker holes cut in the doors, or anywhere else for that matter). This car carries Serial # 663596. For 1967, the production of 2,958 Duetto's ranged from #663364 to #666321 making this car the 232th car produced for the model year of 1967. The Alfa Romeo carries the correct number on the firewall plaque and is actually stamped (as produced by Alfa Romeo) on the firewall, (refer to photograph). This marking and the matching "pink slip" / title document the cars authenticity. This Alfa Duetto has a combination of original, restored and new improved components. It could be totally original with the installation of original steel wheels, and the steering wheel and seats that come with the car. Even the original springs and stock a-arms could be re-installed in the event total originality is desired over much improved handling. Parts are easily available from exclusive alfa sources, Centerline Alfa, International Auto Parts, and many others, and giant selection of used parts from Alfa Parts exchange in Ca. As a result of the Alfa being a 1967 model year it is, of course, exempt from smog regulations in virtually all States including California. This Alfa is a wonderful classic driving car that is fun to drive and will attract considerable attention at the local car show, or Starbucks!
