Vehicle Detail
I am listing my 1997 Jaguar XK8 convertible. It has been a great car for me, but my toys have to go. It is maroon in color. It runs well, and has been maintained regularly by my mechanic. It has two new Dunlop tires on the rear. The interior is in good condition, no rips or tears in the seats. the interior is a "bone" color. The A/C blows cold, all the gauges work, The top goes up and down at the push of a button (sometimes it is slow, but it does work) . She starts easy and drives out nicely. This Jag is great on the highway, and fun in town too. The trunk is clean and spacious. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this XK8 anywhere in the US, and might be be willing to do so to deliver it, for the cost of fuel, air travel back home, hotel (if necessary) and meals. It has significant oxidization on the hood, trunk, doors and quarter panels. It was like this when I bought it, but it still looks good enough to turn a few heads. There is a small dent in the left rear bumper/corner, not very noticeable but it is there (see photo). There are some surface scratches in the right front quarter panel that do not appear to be deep, and would probably buff out. There is a small hole in the convertible top, about the size of a pencil, but I have not had any issues with it leaking. I took a photo of it next to a quarter so you can see the size. The ABS and stability control lights come on occasionally, however my mechanic advised me that it wasn't an issue unless I was driving in hazardous conditions, and I don't, so I have not gotten this repaired. The cup holder is broken and stays in the open position. The electric seat adjustment switches work fine, however the small plastic piece over the switch keeps falling off. I have the switch cover pieces, I just leave them off as it easier than trying to put it back on every time I adjust the seat. The stereo and CD changer work properly, however the stereo display is not functioning and the speakers could stand to be replaced. The CD changer is in the trunk. There are touch controls for the stereo functions on the steering wheel. The cruise control works well. I am not trying to pick the car apart, but I wanted to be fair and try to let the new owner know everything I know about the Jag. I have been very pleased with the XK8. This isn't a "project car", but it is not in showroom condition. It is "average", as far as 1997 XK8's go. I have enjoyed owning and driving this Jag, but my wife says owning three Jags (Two XJ6's and the XK8) is excessive, so she is making me choose one and sell the other two. The XK8 isn't really practical with two young children, so it is on the block. I took the Jag by the body shop and he thinks the scratches on the fender are from being parked next to a tree or bush that was blowing in the wind. He feels that the scratches are surface only, and will buff out pretty easy. If the purchaser wants me to have it done before delivery, I can have it done for about $45. I would be happy to try and answer any questions, but please understand that I am not very mechanical, so I would have to refer you to my mechanic for anything too technical. The Jag is for sale locally as well, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. My reserve price is the opening $5300. Thanks for looking.
