Vehicle Detail
Beautiful Triumph TR4 with new paint (original British Racing Green). Very straight car. Newer top and interior. Many new mechanical parts. Starts right up and runs great. I will go over the body concerning rust. When I bought the car the exterior was painted red. The original color was British Racing Green which was the color of the trunk, inside of doors, engine compartment, etc. I had the outside repainted BRG as original. The panels were taken to metal so I know that all parts are metal, no aftermarket fiberglass fenders, etc. I also know that there was no rust on any of the parts of the panels that were repainted. As you will see from the pictures I had the car on a lift and although I am not a paint and body guy I can give you my assessment and pictures of the underneath. The trunk is solid throughout. In the pictures you will see a little surface rust on the the inside bottom of the trunk and I do mean a little surface rust only. There is no scaling, holes or even pinholes throughout the trunk. (In hindsight I should have had it repainted while I was doing the outside.) The floors are solid and again have surface rust. The front fenders and rockers seem to be solid. If there was any patchwork it might have been in the wheel arch of the rear fender(s). I think there was probably some work done there but hard to tell as there is undercoating on both sides although seems solid. The frame is very solid with no rust. I'm sure it's not perfect but overall very solid car with regards to rust. Also doesn't appear to have been in any wrecks. If you look down the side of the car it appears very straight and not wavy at all. The bumpers need to be rechromed to really set the car off as needs to be done with some of the smaller chrome pieces. Mechanically the local President of the local MG Club did the mechanics which included total carb rebuild, hoses, belts and overall checkover. The car runs and handles great. I did notice recently that there is a slight oil leak but from my previous experience of owning one years ago I think most leak a little. Actual mileage is not known. Comes with receipts and owners manual. The interior is very nice with newer carpet and upholstery and newer top. Windows go up and down properly. I switched to 60 spoke wire wheels that have Kuhmo tires with excellent tread from disc wheels so if wanted you could go back to disc wheels. As a matter of fact the spare is one of the disc wheels. Seats were just refoamed and very comfortable. Wood dash and shift knob. Has battery cut-off switch behind the drivers seat so no worries about leaving car with top down (see picture). Has Road Gear AM/FM cassette stereo. Comes with 2 tonneau covers. I have included some pictures from the previous owner showing when they were restoring the car and when it's exterior was red. The rest of the pictures are current. Overall this car is a very nice driver. I have an excellent rating on ebay ...I believe because I'm honest about what I'm selling and will answer questions from serious bidders. I am forced to sell this to complete my kitchen remodel...not really a fair trade but that's life. There is a low reserve on this car versus value. I reserve the right to sell this from other advertising. Good luck. On Dec-20-10 at 09:04:45 PST, seller added the following information: Update: Had a bidder look at the car. Looked underneath and said that some bondo in the front fenders as well as the back. He said no deal breakers and would continue bidding. Also there was a switch on the right side of the steering wheel which I accidently broke off last year. I was told this was the overdrive switch and that if it has overdrive there would be a solenoid mounted on the transmission. I looked when the car was on the lift but did not see a solenoid so not sure why switch was there. Again I want to be as accurate as possible on description.
