This is a 3 year project that has resulted in a great truck!! The truck pictured above is the body of a 1988 FJ 62 that spent the first 20 years of it's life ib the dry warm climate of New Mexico. The legendary 2H diesel motor and the transmission came from an all Canadian 1986 HJ 61 that I owned since 2004. The motor has been strong and reliable since day one, but I the original body was in rough shape, which brings us to today, and to the beautiful cruiser you see before you. The exterior is perfect, not a single spot of rust anywhere. It was painted with a metallic silver aviation paint that makes it more resistant to stone chips and to the elements.The exterior sports upgrades like - A rugged Defender Roof Rack with spare tire carrier, great for keeping luggage and gear on the outside of the vehicle when on those long trips - A 4Plus streamlined winch mount front bumper - The rear bumper only made available in Japan, with built in tow hitch receiver - custom made fender flares - The power mirrors and front grill assembly have been stripped of the chrome, and painted a gloss black -Fresh Window tint, and exterior rubber - New 31" Year Wrangler Silent Armour Tires installed in July The Interior is ALL new!!! - Inner metal surfaces were completely stripped, primed, painted, finished with rocker guard rubberized paint. - Metal was then layered with A layer of Dynamat, and a layer of DynaMat Extreme, As well a layer was put down Dyna foam 1/4 " then finally brand new custom fit carpeting. -The inside of the doors were also sprayed with the rocker guard, and then Dynamat before brand new door panels were installed with custom made stainless steel kick-plates - The front seat were replaced with black leather Recarro racing seat knock offs, I still have the original seats that are stained but not ripped. - The rear seat was redone with the same grey vinyl that was used to do the rear and door panels. -The rear cargo area has been covered with a diamond plate rubber mat to protect the new carpet from tears and stains. -The centre console was replaced with a Tuffy security locking steel console, that houses the Sony stereo cd and mp3 player, powered by a hidden Sony 350 watt amp. -Music comes out of a pair of Alpine 5 inch speakers in the doors and 6 inch Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers in the rear. -The dash has been covered with a perfectly fitted dash cap Drive and ride are strong,smooth and comfortable thanks to the following - Brand new Good Year Silent Armour 31" wranglers - Nice tall Stance thanks to the OLD MAN EMU leaf Springs and Skyjacker Hydro Shocks -Steering is smooth and precise thanks to the OLD MAN EMU steering stabilizer - Recent engine work and the strong transmission provide ample power in the bush, in the mud/snow or on the blacktop of the highway. There is so much more that I could list here, and i will gladly go into more detail if you contact me.The most recent work done to the truck is the following - The alternator was rebuilt to ensure the proper charging of the batteries and electrical system. - Less than 2000 km ago the cylinders were bored, the piston got brand new rings and the result is a definite increase in power and fuel economy - Last week the oil was changed and a general tune up was performed. I have dozens of pics taken during the restoration and would be happy to share.
