2001 Hyundai Accent GL Sedan 4D Vehicle Mileage: 125k Engine: 4-Cyl, 1.6 Liter Great gas saver 35mpg+ Good commuter car Current VA emission/safety inspection until 6/2011 COLD Air condition (installed in 2006) HEAT (front/rear defrost) AM/FM Stereo Dual Air Bags Power Steering Cassette The car really ran well until recently without any major repairs besides routine and minor maintenance . In March had an upper head job done ( head gasket set, exterior/interior valves and timing belt.......) and October the car would not go in reverse and would not shift to the higher gears. I took it to my mechanic and some codes came up on the computer. Possibly transmission problems but when I called around to a transmission repair shop and described the symptoms I was having, he said often time with those symptoms a new transmission or rebuilt wasn't needed and may just need to replace some valves. But he would have to inspect it first for $100 to diagnose the problem. So to pay for towing cost plus $100 diagnostic fee and whatever it will cost for repairs is a bit to much for my budget.
