It is essentially an E24 powered by the powerplant of the BMW M1 - the M88 (286 PS (210 kW; 282 hp)). Most of the cars were equipped with special metric 415 mm diameter wheels requiring Michelin TRX tires. A catalyzed, lower compression ratio version of the car with the S38 engine (260 PS (190 kW; 260 hp)) was introduced in the U.S. in 1987. All M6 cars came standard with a 25% rear limited slip differential. U.S. models included additional comforts that were usually optional on models sold in Europe such as Nappa leather power seats and a dedicated rear A/C unit with a center beverage chiller. Car and Driver tested a U.S. M6 in July 1987 and achieved a 0-60 time of 6.1 seconds, better than the BMW published 6.4 and 6.8 second times for the European and U.S. versions respectively. While in most markets several E24 versions were usually available, markets with strict emission control regulations received only a single model (except for the M6 that was later offered additionally). This meant that in North America and Japan, BMW offered the following models: 630CSi (MY 1977 through 1978½) 633CSi (MY 1978½ through 1984) 635CSi (MY 1985 through 1989) L6 (MY 1987 - Luxury Edition 635CSi NA-only) M6 (MY 1987 through 1989) Seller's Comments First let me start off by saying I am not a Car Collector, so I will try to describe what I can tell you about the car. The car was locally traded in at a new car Dealership here in town, WE WERE GIVEN ALL THE BOOKS AND RECORDS, so the car will include all the books and records of the car. The car has been garage kept, and well maintained here in South Florida, NO RUST OF ANY TYPE is seen on this vehicle. The Exterior has ALL MATCHING VIN numbers on the doors, fenders, etc. I can not find any signs of paint work, other than the plastic bumper trim pieces that show signs of a little discoloration. The car has all the factory OEM 1st Aid kits, tool kits, and jack almost as if they were preserved in time. The wheels again are all original BBS 415mm with the Michelin TRX tires all having good tread with very slight signs of dry checking. Everything on this car is OEM factory, and I will say NO DENTS OR DINGS in the body work at all. There is a few minor chips in the paint on the front bumper, as expected, and the RS mirror is faded some. All in All I would rate the Exterior in Excellent condition for the age. The Interior is near Flawless with no rips, tears, cracks or barely any signs of wear on the seats at all. The leather appears to be all original front and back. The carpet shows a little sign of discoloration possibly from age itself. The Floormats are all original BMW 6 series mats. The Rear AC works great and the condition of the rear Drink Cooler is near mint. The ashtrays show absolutely no signs of use, as does the interior no burn holes or foul odors of any type. BOTH The power seats work in every direction as does the power bolsters for the lower legs. The power headrests do not go up and down although I can hear the motor run in both directions. All the power windows work great with no faults to list. I do not see power mirrors on the car, and the outside door mirrors themselves appear to be loose if you try to push on the glass to adjust them. Just the mirror part, not the entire assembly. The engine and drivetrain are near perfect running condition with no signs of leaks at all. The clutch feels very good as does the shifting in the transmission. The undercarriage of this car is amazingly spotless and appears to be very well taken care of all of its life. The motor runs excellent, no smoking, no hesitations, no check engine lights on inside, no faults to list. All in all I would have to say this car if you did not look at the odometer you would swear it had 40 to 50K miles on the car, the condition is truly amazing. This car will be sold at a NO RESERVE PRICE, so the high bidder will own this car for the final price on Ebay.
