Vehicle Detail
1999 Volvo v70r We bought this car about four years ago from some friends (we are the 2nd owners). It is a great car when it’s running well. We’ve had our fair share of repairs over the years though and are ready to move on. If you’re a Volvo person you’ll understand and probably love this car! In the past 18 months/10,000 miles this car has had: two new oxygen sensors (up stream and down stream)mass air flow sensornew fuel linenew a/c condensernew tiresnew brakes – rotors and padsnew timing beltnew fuel relaynew key ring antennae These items amount to over $5,000 in maintenance and repairs. The Good: It runs great, when everything is going well. Great pick up and smooth shifting. Lot’s of fun to drive. It will go anywhere in the snow. I drove it everywhere last year during “snowmagedon” and never had a single problem. It would make a great “ski vehicle.” Comes with genuine Volvo roof rack. Right now the car is running very well. The premium leather interior is in good condition for a 10 year old car. The premium sound system is great – it has fantastic audio quality, cassette, and an in-dash three cd changer. Heated seats are also a nice touch for cold winter mornings. Sunroof and special 16 inch wheels too. The fly-by-wire accelerator module has been replaced (on recall) by our local Volvo dealer. This is a substantial car and you feel very safe when driving it. Perhaps this could even be a parts car if you have a similar model? The Truth: The check engine light is on and has been on and off ever since we’ve owned this car. It seems to be a constant characteristic of this particular model from what the dealer and mechanics tell me. The a/c works, but has something wrong with it. It may just need a recharge, or may be more serious. Our local Volvo dealer (who did most of the above mentioned work) tells us it is fine. The car has an automatic climate control system that may just be acting a little funny for some reason. The little wipers for the headlights are broken off (the motors were worn out anyhow and they were stuck straight up and got broken off when I put the hood down one time). The fog light covers are cracked and we’ve never bothered to have them replaced as they still work. Car sells as is, without a new MD state inspection. It would have last been inspected when we titled it in Maryland. I am happy to answer any questions that you might have (to the best of my ability) and/or send/take more pictures. Cheers!
