1968 Volkswagen Deluxe Bus For more pictures and information go to our gallery at www.sdcvr.com. Up for auction is our recently finished 1968 Volkswagen Deluxe Bus. The bus is mostly original paint with a few spots that were repaired and repainted. She is dropped to perfection... are you ready to cruise in style? This might be the Bus for you. One thing is for certain; you cannot drive a block without thumbs up or waving. Prepare for a steady flood of young women admiring your ride... they don't come around like this often. Exterior/Body The body is in amazingly excellent condition for being 42 years old. There are assorted bumps and bruises, but overall, an excellent Bus. All trim is original to the car, as well as all glass and lenses. This Bus will last another 42 years in this condition with minimal maintenance, or would be an excellent candidate for a full restoration. We are waiting on turn signal seals to arrive; when they do, the front turn signals will be installed. Interior The interior is virtually untouched, and in great condition. The headliner has 2 tears which don't detract from its excellent original condition. The front seats were replaced with later model Vanagon seats with headrests and armrests... the original front seats are available. Out back, the rear seat was replaced with a folding Riviera seat unit. Perfect for snoozing, or loading your gear into the back. Mechanical The stock 1600sp engine was rebuilt approximately 750 miles ago, and runs great. We installed a new carburetor, and performed a full tune up upon its arrival at the shop. Notice the ride height? This was accomplished by installing an early Bus front end complete with dropped spindles, a 4" narrowed adjustable beam, and notching all around for tie rod, axle and trailing arm clearance. New shocks at all four corners finished the drop job. You can't get much lower than this without investing substantial funds and labor! New aftermarket Sprintstar wheels were installed along with new tires front and back. There is no reserve, so bid to win.
