Brand New CD Player –Tuner This is just a Really Nice Car. Got some miles, and some cosmetic wear, but still a good carWas well cared For No Reserve! Highest bid wins! No Reserve !Sold to High Bidder Questions- 410-320-558980 PICTURES BELOW -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------You are bidding on a classic 240 Volvo Wagon. Has the much desired manual stick shift that I personally like so well. This is a nice car especially considering the year and useage. Not at all perfect mind you , definitely has some modest cosmetic wear here and there, ...but a real solid decent Volvo nevertheless. (look at the pictures) One of the nicer stick shift 240 Volvo we've seen in recent years. It was owned by a married couple from affluent Leesburg, Virginia and was donated to a large nationally known charity. And, about miles on Volvos like this- heck some would say its almost immaterial. Its certainly got another 100,000 miles in it . No question . These cars just go forever. In addition to the long life of Volvos, please see our comment below about why manual stick shift cars ALWAYS go further and why they last longer than automatics . Has been very well maintained and is fun to drive . 80 PICTURES BELOW -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Fresh off the line “ that’s something you’ll notice about this car! ["Fast" , at least compared to the automatics ] New wires, distributor, tune up etc . Came in fully tuned and running well. (see pictures of new wires, etc ). Someone kept it up. We were told it had new plugs, wires, cap rotor etc .Engine is fine. No issues whatsoever. Oil change also had been done quite recently and good for another 2500 miles or so. [Scene : I was rushing to a Boy Scout meeting last Wednesday out on Rt. 295 , driving this Volvo. This son of a gun cruised nicely at 70 – 75 mph, At one point I even pushed it to 80. (it's much better at 70-75!). Only complaint as you go above 60 to 70 and 80mph there's some shimmy or modest front end vibration --- what seems like probably tire vibration. 9 usuall simple tire balance ) Matching set of nice Michelin tires all way around. Just a guess.... Otherwise, stable, solid , tracks well in a straight line in that "straigth as an arrow" Volvo way. No problems at all. I've driven it now about 10 days and plan to take it on a trip this weekend . I've driven it maybe 400 miles already. Just a real nice 'ole car. It was such a thrill for me personally as a manual trans old Volvo lover to drive the car that all I could think about was how I’d like to keep the darn thing as a fourth car here. Just a dependable, simple, smooth classic [ it does have some issues] that will go on nand on. --------------------------------------------------Some details: The engine is Volvo’s ultra high quality and dependable 2.3 liter 4 cylinder…really the engine standout that Volvo really burnished their reputation on. Super strong, super dependable, easy to work on. This one's in good shape. Engine oil shows clean and clear oil . No leaks, Engine is strong, and smooth. As you certainly must know, these model engines can easily go well more than 300K miles and in some cases have gone well more than 500 K miles. Transmission shifts correctly. Gear box smooth and easily accessed all 5 gears Clutch is fine. Not bow ribbon new tight, ...but fine. Grabs as it should. Brakes stop fine, but some modest pulsation (which also could be the source of the vibration. /the rotors might could use turned ). You’ll will notice the steering is quite straight. Smooth at highway speed. No shake rattle and roll like some older cars. .Suspension seems fine . Car sits up alright . 80 PICTURES BELOW Brand New - Pioneer CD Player –tuner . I’m told it was new this year Power windows all round and power locks. Remote control mirrors. Interior is a solid B+ . Little bit of wear. Seats are as they should be fit and feel-wise . Seams in driver seat are open 1/4 inch , but you cant feel it and doesn't even look bad. Actually seats overall very clean and good shape. Headliner good, with 2 inch rip in back . Carpets a B+ . One door map pocket gone, the other totally intact. Glove box latch stays shut but dropped down once. Little or no rust whatsoever on the body . Tiny bit surface rust on a wheel well edge (not min the paint ). Very minor. The body itself – straight, smooth and right through out with exception of right fender has what looks like a crinkle- rumple-wrinkle spot on the right rear fender edge. Couple tiny little “whiskey dings” on the other side …small…but overall…not bad. Paint looks pretty darn good and the impression is rich and sumptuous. Normal wear and smattering of scratches here and there. I can see at least one scatch spot with a some paint daub touch up. (at least they cared !) And, in reality digital pictures tend to make a car look at little better than it is in really - just to be honest . I can one piece of molding has been re-attached . Safety, weight and strength in a crash – Hey what can one say. .Its a sturdy, heavy solidly built Volvo. 80 PICTURES BELOW DID YOU KNOW? --- A stick shift vehicle, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS lasts much longer than an automatic transmission car? Are you aware of that ? There’s no debate about it. Absolutely true. A manual shift vehicle just lasts longer. Much longer. Why? In a manual shift car, there’s considerably less wear and tear on the engine. MUCH less wear. The engine doesn’t have to push all that huge mass of interlocking gears, bands, valves etc up and down the shift cycle all the time. Thus, ......the vehicle (the engine ) lasts much longer. Over the years we’ve sold cars, we see 1000’s of wholesale used trucks and cars. The stick shift vehicles ALWAYS outlast the automatics. Interesting, huh? And....Better gas mileage too with a 5 speed. And…less expensive to fix if ever you have to. To declare- Heat's good and strong. Fan blower motor is quiet on the dash. (something to always check on a Volve. This one's good.) Fan blower motor blows very smooth (nice because lot of Volvo have a problem with this weak point ). Air conditioning doesn’t blow cold , not sure why. Also, nice point - "Volvo-wise" the normally cracking and splitting 240 Volvo dash board is in good shape ; 3 modest splits in the surface plastic but good overall. Spare in trunck. Replacement headlights in front to keep fresh and clear. Glass all intact . Looks like headlights and marker lights have been upgraded or replaced with newer better versions. SEE 80 PICTURES BELOW-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hey, [smile] as being a classic VOLVO, one might say with only 219 K this is still a low mileage car! Safety for you – A few years back, whan Volvo advertised an "Accidental Loss of Life" insurance policy for all '96 models, they had solid empirical data upon which to make their offer . Amazingly , Volvo will tell you that no driver deaths occurred in single-vehicle crashes or rollovers of the Volvo 240 car during the 1990-94 period. Not one . Amazing safely record. This one also has they soiught after 3rd row folding seat in the back. Only other thing I can think of is its the blinker -dimmer switch lever is loose. blinker is with perfect action but the dimmer- even though it also works totally correctly..is loose with a little play in it. Volvo made its reputation for safety and dependability with these cars. You will notice there are still a lot of them around for a reason. They are extremely strong, safe cars. If you want to Buy It Now ….In the interest of selling it quickly I’ve reduced it for the eBay sale. [It has been for sale locally, financeable, .......for $3895 and it’s still here. It needs to go. ] Now, we will just sell it for cash. The Buy It Now for the eBay sale has been reset to just $2288. ……….just to sell it. That’s fair. Very fair, indeed for this car , condition and mileage. Again, please call me with any question or concern. I will help you if I possibly can. Jim , 410-320-5589. Barring that, and in any event, it will be sold, NO RESERVE to the highest bidder. Simply, High Bid gets it, unless someone comes and buys it now. (Sometimes the bidding easily goes over and above our Buy it Now figure, if its not bought early) So, this is a great little car ; for not too much money. Hope I haven’t overstated the case here . Its certainly not mint, but it is a real nice classic ..and I’m a bit of a "fan". Anyway… Please feel free to call me if you have any questions at all. I can easily be reached at 410-320-5589. I can answer e-mail but you’ll get much more comprehensive information and more quickly if you call. You can fly into BWI (Baltimore) (cheap flights) and drive this Volvo anywhere in the country. Or call for a quote on shipping. Thanks for your interest and good luck bidding.
