Vehicle Detail

1967 Porsche 912: Available for auction is a super clean 1967 Porsche 912 with original California black plates. The car comes equipped with the optional 5 speed transmission and a strong factory engine with Weber carbs. The has VIN number of 460900, paint code of 68-6607-G, and engine number of 753076. I have the clear title in hand with the California registration paid through October of 2011. The odometer currently reads 55,140. Body: The car was recently repainted by the previous owner (within the last year) to a nice marine blue. The original color was Sand Beige. The overall paint job is very nice. There are a few areas where the paint has chipped off (front hood, sides, roof rails, and rear), but can easily be touched up by the extra paint that is provided. The previous owner also removed the rear Porsche lettering and 912 badge and filled in the holes before the repaint. All of the rubber seals on the doors, windows, and body have been painstakingly replaced (~$2000 was spent on rubber trim alone in 2009). The body is straight with no signs of major accidents. The floor panels were replaced by previous owners (not sure when). The body is not 100% rust-free, but I am only aware of a small area of rust in the battery area (very common for these cars). Otherwise the tub appears to be very strong (no creeks when jacked) and no signs of rust in the structural areas. Interior: The interior of the car has also been recently redone in blue with new RS style light weight door panels, newly reupholstered front and rear seats, new carpet, and newly recovered dash and rear deck. Genuine leather was used on seating surfaces, the dash, and door and side panels. High quality vinyl was used to cover door trims, seat backs, and the rear deck. The car also comes with a highly desirable original wooden steering wheel and shift knob in very good condition. The gauges are in good shape and appear too be functioning normally with the exception of the clock. Seat belts did not come with the car when I purchased it. Overall, the car has a very nicely redone interior that has a “new” car smell. All it needs are a few final touches. Mechanical: Over $4000 in mechanical maintenance and upgrades was recently invested into the car: - rebuilt front brake calipers, replaced front rotors, replaced brake pads, replaced brake lines, and drained and replaced brake fluid - new Bosch starter - new electronic fuel pump - replaced ignition wires, spark plugs, oil filter - replaced all fuel lines - replaced shifter bushings - replaced spring plate bushings - replaced selector shaft seal on transmission - installed rear main seal and oil switch - refurbished throttle linkage (new bell crank bushings, throttle link ball and cup) - adjusted and synchronized carburetors - installed studs and velocity stacks - adjusted valves - trunk and hood struts were replaced - replaced wiper blades - adjusted e-brake The car still needs a little bit of work for it to be superb. Future projects include: - addressing sticky throttle (high priority) - upgrading the front suspension to optimize ride comfort and handling - addressing oil leaks (if that bothers you) - reverse lights, hazard lights, and horn do not work - oil temperature sender may need to be replaced - windshield washer system needs new hoses and to be reconnected, spray nozzles are missing - needs new T hook for hood release Notable items: - Engine runs very well, idles consistently, and sounds incredible. The engine does not smoke, pop, or burp. The 5 speed transmission shifts through smoothly with no grinding. - Beautiful refinished wooden steering wheel and shifter - Highly desirable original Talbot side mirror - Original Hella 128 fog lamps (untested, did not have bulbs when I purchased the car) - Most of interior has been beautifully redone including recovered front and rear seats (leather), recovered dash (leather) and rear deck (vinyl), RS style door panels (leather), refinished rear quarter panel (leather), and recent headliner replacement in felt - Rebuilt brake calipers and new front rotors with new wire braided brake lines - All exterior headlights, running lights, turn signals, brake lights work - No signs of major accidents (body is straight) - Door close with a solid “ping” - All glass is in great condition with newer gaskets and seals - All gauges appear to function properly with the exception of the clock - New front tires with less than 50 miles on them - New replica "Gas Burner" wheels that give this car a distinct look - Vehicle includes jack and owner's manual Summary: Overall, this is a really nice example of a 1967 912 that needs just a little bit more work to become a very nice daily driver. Over $6000 in parts and labor was invested (receipts available) within the last year to improve the car which, does not include the paint work and interior refurbishment. Please be mindful, however, that this vehicle is over 40 years old. It has flaws and does require additional work and maintenance. If you want perfection, you will have to spend many times more than what I am asking. If you are looking for a great car to build on, this is the one for you. MY STARTING PRICE IS WELL BELOW MY PURCHASE PRICE! Transportation: The car may be picked up in person or shipped. The buyer will be solely responsible for all shipping arrangements, charges, and fees from the point of sale to the destination. When inquiring for shipping quotes, please use Zip Code 94403 as the origin. I must receive payment in full before the title is signed over and the car is allowed to be shipped.
