1988 Porsche 944. THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS PARTS CAR ONLY. Vehicle starts and runs; however, the engine has a very loud clacking noise that has not been diagnosed--I have no idea what the noise is, but it certainly isn't good. Car is not bad for a 22 year old vehicle. Lots of dings and blemishes and nicks. I've only found one small rust spot--just in front of the driver's side rear wheel where someone hit a curb or something and never fixed it (see pic). Should be an easy fix. All glass is good--one very small chip in windshield. Alloy wheels/good tires. I believe everything works except the radio (original blaupunkt (???). The dash is cracked--a new dash cover is included. Still has original spare tire. 5 speed manual transmission. Seems to shift smoothly. This was going to be my late life "crisis" restoration. However, time and other projects have moved the Porsche to my "clean out the barn" category. I'll never get around to it so perhaps it can be your project. Car is sold with all the parts shown in the pictures. Basically there is a complete 944 engine(43ED2479) a 1984 I believe, which I was told came from a running car with less than 40000 miles (I don't know). The engine that is all apart is mostly there and looks good (43F03928) a 1985 I believe. There is also a Haynes manual and a few other miscellaneous parts. This vehicle has a clear IL title. It is located in Carrollton, IL and must be picked up there. Any shipping must be arranged for by purchaser. Payment can be made via PayPal; however, I would rather you pay by bank check or cash when you take delivery. That way, if you are not pleased with your purchase, or believe I have misrepresented the item, you can walk away--no problem!! Remember, this item is old. On Oct-26-10 at 08:00:56 PDT, seller added the following information: ADDED: I was asked by email if the engine in the car is the original. All I know is the engine number is 46J01043. I believe J denotes an 88 so I assume it's the original engine. It certainly doesn't appear to have been replaced.
