Vehicle Detail
Hello and thanks for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I am a licensed wholesale dealer selling select trade in, off lease and repo vehicles to the public. Up for auction today is one of my favorite cars of all time, the Mercedes-Benz big body coupe! The full size coupe is the rarest and most exclusive of the S Class line. Think about it...the sedans and SL convertibles are a dime a dozen. How many coupes do you see driving around? Inside the coupe is much better equipped than the sedan and roadster. I have owned several of these including a SL600 V12 and two S320's. There are some things you should know about this car so please read the entire listing carefully. I will be completely honest with you about everything about this car. Please ask any questions before placing your bid. Walking around the outside of this vehicle, one has to admire the appeal of the piller-less coupe. The timeless design looks great anywhere. These cars have an element of elegance whether it's an '89 560SEC, a '95 S500 Coupe or an '03 CL500. The outside of this one looks good. All of the panels are strait and the paint looks great, too. It looks like there may have been some body repair on the fenders. It is unlikely that you will be able to see it in the pictures. I'm guessing there was some rust starting on the fender and the previous owner had it repaired. You can see it close up. It took me a few days to notice it myself. All of the glass is in perfect condition including the headlights. This is a great looking car that will turn heads anywhere you drive it. The interior of this car is magnificent! The carpets and headliner are nearly perfect. The seats and door panels are supple and nearly perfect as well. The coupes are appointed a little differently than the sedans and roadsters. All of the wood is in great shape including the door handles and retracting storage compartments. This car is complete with all the original manuals, premium sound with CD changer and rear sunshade. The digital automatic dual climate control works perfectly, as do the seats and windows. Even the rearview mirror inside the car is power operated! There are no warning lights on in the dash. Mechanically the car is in good shape. The engine compartment is clean. The big V8 starts right up and runs smooth and quietly. The transmission engages smoothly and shifts are quick and precise. I believe it will need a new coolant temperature sensor. Sometimes the coolant temperature gauge reads high but the fans don't come on...then it will just jump down to normal range. The other day when I parked it, the coolant temperature gauge was reading close to the red zone. I was driving slowly through town before I parked it. I shut it off then got out and touched the hood and it was cool to the touch. The big V8 crammed into a tight space running as hot as the needle said should have made the hood at least warm but it was cool. The vehicle has never given any indication that it has ever overheated, ever. I had it through my Mercedes shop and they could find nothing wrong with the engine. There are no puddles under where I park it so there are no oil, transmission, antifreeze or hydraulic fluid leaks of any kind. The V8 engine make gobs of power and never smokes. The suspension has a rattle in the front and a creek in the rear so it is safe to assume that it will need new bushings and ball joints. In short, bushings/ball joints and a coolant temperature sensor should be everything you need. Overall this is a great car and worth putting a little effort into. The odometer says that there are just over 8,000 miles which is impossible. The car will be sold TMU (true miles unknown). The odometer works so it must have been replaced or reset at some point. Anyone would be proud to own and drive a classic coupe like this one! This generation of coupes are among the most exclusive ever made which make them very sought after. Don't miss a chance to snatch this one up. The vacum system works perfectly and the bullet resistant glass is flawless. Please ask any questions before bidding. All auctions are subject to a $99 administrative fee which will be added to the final bid amount. A deposit of $100 is due within 48 hours of auction end and full payment is required within seven days unless other arrangements are made. I am willing to pick the high bidder up at BWI, MDT or the local bus terminal. I will also cooperate with your shipper or deliver the vehicle for $1.50 per loaded mile. Thanks and good luck bidding!
