Vehicle Detail

I know I'm going to regret selling this one but I've found another one to play with. This is a true survivor 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 sport coupe. I found this car a year and a half ago in a barn in Pueblo, Colorado. It had been stored in that spot since 1986 by the original owner's brother. He inherited it after his brother's death. He had it up on jacks, off of the floor, drained the gas and sprayed the engine and chassis with 50 weight oil! This was very effective at staving off the elements as you can see in the pictures, it's like a time machine. I trailered it back to Dallas and performed the following: all new brakes from the master cylinder out to the pads, new tires, new shocks (air in back), new belts, hoses, fluids, plugs, wires (correct FoMoCo type), etc. I restored a set of dog dish caps to give it that sleeper look. The car fired right up the first time and it runs excellent! It has 71,000 original miles. There is no powere steering or power brakes. The original vintage burgundy paint is very bright and shiney but there are several scratches on the trunk as they used the car to store things on. There is one tiny area of rust on the bottom edge of the passenger door bottom. Check out the picture...it's almost not even apparent. The other 99.9% of the car is absolutely rust free. I have been over every square inch of this car and there is no other rust on anything. It's as dry as I've ever seen. In fact, the entire undercarriage is amazingly clean. After I scrubbed the 50 weight oil off, I was stunned at the underside of this car. There are factory chalk marks and lots of the factory black chassis paint is still intact. The interior is just as spotless. The paded dash has no cracks anywhere. Its does have some discoloration but it's not bad. The front seat has a few minor splits but that's it. The rest of the interior is clean as can be with perfect door panels, headliner, etc. I added a vintage style (but new) tach and used factory holes to mount it. The AM radio works fine and the clock works sometimes. High beams, turn signals, etc all work. The engine was detailed after I cleaned the oil off and I added a decal kit, a new battery and hood pad insulation. I did add a Pertronix electronic hidden ignition. We just installed a new water pump too. The engine compartment is incredible with factory "paint ok" stamps, etc. As I said, it runs out great with no issues whatsoever. The 3 speed transmission works fine as well but does have a rear seal leak. Rear end was services as well and has no issues. We had a new exhaust installed with glass pack mufflers and no resonators. It sounds amazing. The grill is near perfect except for a dent right in the middle. The front bumper has a ding in the middle as well. All other trim in excellent. There are a few dings here and there but none are bad. I can take pictures of any of these details if you request. The windshield has a crack from the middle half way up then over to the passenger side. The only other item to mention on the body is on the driver's side rocker panel. Someone apparently ran over something and it left a gash. This would be the only thing I would attemp to repair on the body as the original patina is just fantastic. The car runs and drives absolutely fantastic with no rattles, shakes, weird noises, etc. Here are the specs: Body: 63B (2 door fastback), Color: X (Vintage Burgundy), Trim: 74 (Light Beige D/L and Beige), Date: 17B (17th of February), DSO: Blank, Axle: 5 (3:50:1), Trans: 1 (3 speed). Of course, it has the Z code 300 horsepower 390. These true survivor cars are, in my opinion, the most desireable ones to own. They wear their history like a badge of honor. As they say, "They're only original once". I tried very hard to keep this car as original as possible but I like to drive my cars. Therefore, the replacement of wear parts was a no brainer. The car does retain the original spare tire. We also have the original owners manual along with the warranty card and many of the annual licence tag renewals too. Now the legal stuff. This is not a new car! Do not expect it to look or drive like new. There is no warranty, written or implied with this car. I have a clear title for the car. We expect a $1000 deposit within 48 hours of the end of the sale. The remainder is to be paid within 10 business days. I can't help with delivery. This is up to the new owner to take care of. Please don't ask if the car will make it to where ever you live. It's an old car and while it drive just fine, IT'S AN OLD CAR. If you want to drive it home, that's your decision! I'm sure that I'm forgetting something. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
