I'm selling my 1974 VW Super Beelte Convertible, which has been in my family for almost 25 years. This beetle is special, it’s been a trophy winner 1st place every contest I've entered. It's ALL ORIGINAL! Not just in prestine condition, it's German parts, not aftermarket! Original engine, rebuilt. Have 5,600 miles on rebuilt engine. I have ALL ORIGINAL paperwork from VW servicing. I have the ORIGINAL window sticker and all other paperwork! If that's not enough I have the original AM/FM stereo from VW, and the original sticker on the horn button on the steering wheel. This bug steers excellent and drives excellent. The steering wheel itself is perfect, with no cracking (very unusual in many bugs). Mirrors are the original ones, and look perfect. Under the car is not rusted and floorpans look great, they were replaced in 1996 when this bug was restored. The dash has absolutely no cracking (most unusual in bugs)....this one is perfect. All interior seats and carpet has been replaced with premium replacements. Door panels are original, the elastic pouch panel against the doors are original. Glovebox fits perfectly and snaps fine. Hood is OEM and fits perfectly (aftermaket ones don't). Bumpers are original heavy metal and chrome...they don't rust because they are German (aftermaket rusts). Headlight rings are German as are the hubcaps, both which don't rust. Tires obtained from Cooker Tire and are ORIGINAL Michelin 165sr15 XZX, these are the same tires the car was originally sold with...but these are newer. Headliner and convertible top look fantastic and near perfect, as you can see. The convertible top was replaced in 1996 as well, with new headliner, pad, and top. The back glass is real glass with the chrome ring around it....that's the way it came originally. No scratching on the windshield. Wipers are nice and straight too. Windshield rubber looks great. This car sits level, something to look for in bugs. Engine should purrs...like a VW should, does not smoke, recently perfectly rebuilt to specs. Not modified. Each door jam, trunk and hood, fit like a glove. Doors, hood, trunk latch close evenly and perfectly without effort. Interior front window jams of this car has the ORIGINAL yellow paint (so you can compare colors to see it's original). Exterior has been repainted to original factory color (back in 1996); however, some paint scratching shows on the hood only (not easy to see from the pictures, but it’s there). No dents in hood. Badging is an original Karmann. This is a Super Beetle convertible, only 1 in 100 bugs was a convertible, they cost twice as much as the hardtop in 1974 (hardtop was $1995.00 in 1974). By the way 1974 was the last year of the carbureator before fuel injection (which was a pain). Carb should be a PIC34, this one is. Emergency brake should hold the car, this one does. Original factor VW clock, it works reliably. Speedometer is accurate. Gas guage works. Electrical is all original and never tampered with. Still has the orginal rubber bumper guard strip, end caps are perfect and not cracked. Chrome strips do not have any dings, look perfect. I have the original manuals, service records, two full folders of all original records! This car is exceptional, come and see for yourself. I live in Raleigh, NC.
