Up for sale is my matching #s 1968 Porsche 912, with 5 speed transmission, that I just finished. A complete restoration from ground up. The car started out as a two owner California original car from Bakersfield California. Very clean and very original, with very little rust corrosion in the battery box area. That was the only rust on the car. But being the person I am with these cars, it was not up to my standard. So instead of patching, I had the suspension pan and battery box professionally replaced. The car was in fair to good condition when I bought it, but today it is in pristine condition with show quality restoration. Vin # 12803085 Engine #1283025 Trans # 1282647 paint code 6809 mileage 76678 EXTERIOR When I bought the car it was wearing the original coat of paint, with a few dings and scratches.So I disassembled the car removing all stainless trims, glasses, bumpers, deco, lights F/R, and any and everything that would get in the way of a professional paint job. The car was then sanded and all dings and scratches were removed and professionally repainted with its original color orange code (6809). Then, color sanded and buffed and reassembled with all new window seals, polish stainless, new front/rear window trims, new deco all around, new headlight seals, new H4 headlights, new body seals all around, new horns. INTERIOR The interior was originally black leatherette. I had the interior redone with genuine perforated leather on the seats with orange and black houndstooth insert. Leather on the dash, leather on the door panel, new carpet, new headliner. All gauges were cleaned and refurbished. Seat rails were refurbished, shifter was rechromed and rebushing, brake pedal cluster was rebushing. SUSPENSION All suspension was removed and powder coated, new bushing was installed and then replaced. Koni shocks f/r, new brakes f/r, new brake lines all around, new rotor f/r, new tires f/r. riding on freshly refurbished fuchs 6j x 15 f/r, all wheels balanced and aligned. Each and every bolt, nuts and washers were cad plated and zinc plated. DRIVE TRAIN While the chassis was in the paint shop I restored the drive train. The engine was completely removed and rebuilt with new 86mm big bore kit, valve job with new valve guide, new oil pump gear, and rebuilt solex cards. The sheet metal and air cleaners were gloss black powder coated, and every nut, bolt, and line was sent out for cadmium plating. Nothing was carried over. Every single component was either powder coated, cad plated, zinc plated, or brand new out of the box. The drive train and suspension is immaculate and worthy of show. Every single piece of rubber is new, every bushing, line, hose, clamp, nut, bolt, screw, bearing and anything else I am missing was all redone. Everything on the engine, transmission or suspension was powder coated, gold cad plated, silver zinc plated, or came fresh out of the bag or box. Seeing the photos taken of the undercarriage will give you an idea of how close to new the whole thing is. Inspections are welcome prior to completion of sale.
