Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is Blue, my 1998 Nissan 200SX. She's been a faithful commuter for several years for us, but we have too many cars and not enough parking space. I don't want to get rid of it, but we moved recently and the borough doesn't like having so many cars at one address. Interior features white-face gauges on the dashboard, "wood" trim around the vents/radio/dashboard, and a funky geometric pattern on the cloth seats. The AM/FM/CD works well, but it's the factory system, so nothing special, but adequate for most folks. The A/C blows cold and the heater blows warm, but the fan only works on 4, not on 1, 2, or 3. I've had two friends with similar-vintage Nissans that had similar issues with the fan blowers. It's just never annoyed me enough to spend money on getting it fixed. The transmission has always behaved as it should, and delivers about 33 mpg on the freeway. The tires are all fairly new (within the past two years). Over the past few years, I've also replaced both front axles (for clicking CV joints), the starter, spark plugs & wires, distributor cap & rotor, and the alternator- and water-pump belts. Both the front and rear windshields have been replaced over the past few years (foul weather + dumb luck). The Nissan isn't currently inspected, and isn't currently running, thus the low opening bid and no reserve. We stopped driving it over this past winter; I started it every so often to keep it up and would drive it around the block. It would always start on the first try, and seemed eager to drive. It started right away in March, April, and May, but wouldn't start for me in June, even with a jumpstart. I suspect that there is something wrong in the fuel system, since the electrical ignition system is mostly new in the past year. It could be as simple as a clogged fuel filter from sitting, or a failed relay. I just don't have the space to work on it anymore, and have too many cars to keep. Also, the fuel filler is slightly clogged; the little flap on the fuel filler neck that's supposed to prevent fumes from escaping while you're fueling was broken off by a pump-jockey a few years ago and got lodged in the filler tube. It's not in the tank, and it's not totally blocking the filler neck; it just forces me to fill up the tank slowly. Again, something that never annoyed me enough to bother having fixed. There are a little bit of rust bubbles just in front of the rear wheels, and some slight damage on the front fender from a deer strike a few years ago. The headlight and cornerlight have both been replaced on that side. The hood and fender are both slightly dented, and the paint on the plastic bumper is chipped and spiderwebbed. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. I've done my best to accurately represent this car to the best of my knowledge, but of course it is a used car with nicks and dents associated with it's age. Please, send me a message after you place a bid for the Nissan. Thanks, and good luck everyone!
