Vehicle Detail
Clean Utah title in hand. This is a no reserve auction. Every bid will be a possible purchase, so bid accordingly. This is a link to my photobucket album with 291 photos of this car. Some photos are good, some are not, but I think every photo helps when you are buying online. http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r46/advancedautoresearch/1969%20Chevrolet%20Caprice/ You are bidding on a 1969 Chevrolet Caprice 2-door hardtop formal coupe. This car runs and drives, and in my opinion is a nice restoration project. This Caprice has the 396 cid big block engine, turbo-hydramatic TH-400 transmission, 12-bolt open rear end with 2.56:1 gears. It also includes factory GM installed air conditioning, power disc brakes, tilt steering wheel, and power steering. There is also a (non-functional) 70's style aftermarket cruise kit on the car. 3 under-dash gauges have been added as well. Actual mileage unknown, the miles listed are just what are shown on the odometer, and may or may not be correct. The car comes with the original GM Dealer's inspection copy paperwork, which lists the VIN #, the selling dealer, and all of the factory installed options for the car. Oh, the original owners manual is here as well. It is painted in the original color of Olympic Gold, although the paint is not original. The car has been painted at least once. The brown vinyl top is in good condition, with no tears and minimal overall wear. The body has some signs of wear. The left door has about a golf ball sized dent, and the left rear quarter is also dented. There are detail pictures for those. The exterior trim ins all there, but some of it has dents/dings, and I have pictures of that as well. The left rear quarter looks to have been patched behind the wheel, as an earlier rust repair. The right rear quarter is showing some rust in the same area. Pictures provided. The floors and trunk are solid, as is the frame. The trunk lid is dented near the lock cylinder, check the picture. The right hand outer door handle only works occasionally. The firewall trim tag is missing. The interior is all the original gold, and this is a split front bench car. The seats, carpet, door panels, quarter trim panels, headliner, rear deck, and chrome trim is all intact. The door panels have had speakers cut into them at some point in the car's life. The dash pad is cracked in two places. The center air vents are loose and wobble around. The headliner has a stain above the driver's head, and the seam is coming apart there as well. The front seat bottom has a few stains on it, and the carpet is dirty and stained. The knob for the left front seat back release is missing. The rear seat and rear quarter trim panels are in excellent condition, as are the rear seat belts. The front seat belts are a three-point style with lap retractors and are complete, although they are stained. I have installed a new reproduction GM "rosewood" steering wheel and horn cap kit, along with an NOS GM ignition lock cylinder. The engine looks to be the original 396ci 265hp 2-barrel, although I haven't pulled the code to verify. The transmission is a TH400, and the car has the 12-bolt rear with 2.56:1 gears and the 4th control arm. The engine has been recently tuned up, including a rebuilt and re-jetted carb (the carb is the correct # 7029120). New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser, air filter, fuel filter, and 3-piece reproduction fuel pump to carb line. A new starter has been installed as well. The engine starts easily the first time and easily passed Utah emissions standards (less than 200 HC). The engine does leak oil from either the pan or the rear main seal. The transmission shifts smoothly and solidly, but leaks as well. Rear diff has been serviced with fresh fluid, a new gasket, new outer axle bearings, axle seals, and wheel studs. The rear brakes have been completely rebuilt with new components. The line from the proportioning valve, the rubber hose over the axle, both real axle tube lines, both rear wheel cylinders, both drums, shoes, and the return springs have all been replaced. The front brakes, front suspension, and rear suspension all need to be gone through. I have some new parts for the front brakes which I will include with the sale of the car. The starting price includes the original factory 15" x 6"steel wheels with full wheel covers and the P225/75R15 Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. The 17" x 8" American Racing Salt Flat Special wheels and P255/50R17 Uniroyal Grabber UHP tires pictured are only included if the selling price exceeds $6000.00. If the selling price does not exceed $6000.00, we MAY negotiate a fair selling price, at MY discretion. The history for this car is this, to the best of my knowledge. The car was purchased new in 1969 in Logan, Ut. Around 1973-74 the owners moved the the Riverside, Ca. area. The car was driven until 1993 and parked. In late 2007 it was sold to the person who sold it to me, but never registered. I purchased the car in March of 2008, and have done little things here and there to it, but it really isn't me. I recently purchased another project, and this one must go. Please feel free to ask any questions, I will attempt to promptly answer them. I hate that I have to mention this, but please note: I have made an attempt to detail the good and the bad points about this car. That being said, I have not been over every square inch, and subsequently may have missed some issues. This car is being sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS. The will be no refunds, full or in part. There will be no shipping or bringing the car back. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Certified check only. Once payment is received, I will overnight the clean Utah title and a bill of sale to you. At that point you can arrange shipping. Thanks for looking, and happy bidding!!
