1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 convertible in bright brilliant red! I was forced to put a new 454 Chevy engine in it because I went out with all my friends one night around 1:30am and I was showing off with the B&M shifter in first and second gear clawing my way through downtown Santa Monica to Bravo Pizza and only two blocks away the blissful sounding NASCAR like roar of the engine through the Flow Master mufflers at high RPMs suddenly went silent. I had redlined it way past what was okay for that forty-year-old engine and when we later looked inside it looked like cooked spaghetti. Now it has a bunch of new stuff including a brand new really tight chrome B&M shifter. I don’t know anything about cars other than how to show off, be ridiculous, and have fun so I never worked on it myself and instead added some of the invoices I could find to prove the $8,000 or more worth of work I’ve put into the car after purchasing it for $12,500. Everything works except the turn signals, which are not installed. I included here in the pictures section the original advertisement that prompted me to buy this car when I saw it on Hotrod Hotline. I bought the car from a woman named Cindy in Sacramento where I flew in and drove it six hours home and got a flat tire. Oh yes, the convertible roof is electric and doesn’t require any effort to open and close. In order to stay in business as the last surviving independant bookstore in Santa Monica (it's only a 500 sq ft space -but still), and after selling my bicycles, giving up my apartment (I've couch surfed the last 9 months), I am finally giving up this car. I can buy another one in the future when I start eating out and spending money again. Right now, it's all credit cards and survival. Thanks for considering my car. My name is Russell Bowman.
