1968 AMC AMX 390 Automatic transmission. This car is very Original and stock, and has not been modified like many other AMX's that you might have seen. It is an early production 1968 as can be seen by the heater valve that is mounted to the fire wall in the engine compartment and the seat belt tags read 67-4. The door I.D. Tag indicates this is an original Matador Red (39A) car. It has a black interior which is very presentable and in very good condition. This is a very rare Radio Delete car as you can see from the missing radio antenna and the block plate where the radio would normally be. The air filter tub, chrome valve covers, space-saver spare tire, jack, and air bottle are also present. Upon a closer look at the Chrome Magnum 500's, you'll notice the original wheel lugs and Red-Line Radial Tires. This car was restored about 20 years ago with nothing but NOS Parts, and carefully stored since then. The emblems, door sills, tail lights and any other parts replaced in the restoration were ALL NOS! The rear trunk lid luggage rack was added during the restoration and the Go-Pak stripes were not added since the owner wanted a cleaner look to the car. But do not be mistaken. This is an Original Go-Pak car with the Go-Pak options like Front Wheel Discs, Chrome Valve Covers, Fan Shroud, Torque Links, and other necessary parts. It is very nicely optioned with Air Conditioner, Tilt Steering Wheel, Interior Lights, Tachometer, and Twin Grip Rear End. This car won many car shows after it was restored and can easily be a show winner again. The car will need to be repainted as the paint is peeling. This AMX has very clean California sheet metal. It is not a rust bucket or show any signs that it is rusted, wrecked, molested, and abused. All sheet metal appears to be original and in excellent shape. The engine starts right up and runs very well as can be seen by the clean exhaust and lack of any smoke. I strongly believe that this is an investment grade AMX due to the original parts and the overall condition of the car. If you have been around these cars enough you know how hard it is to come by unmolested AMX like this one. Most of the cars I have come across have had radios added, modified engines, missing space savers and air filter tubs, wiring harness's that have been spliced or repaired, and have body damage and or rust. You will be hard pressed to find another AMX as stock as this one and at this price. In a better economy, and once painted and restored, this car could easily be worth $30-40,000. This car has been parked and last registered in 2003. I removed the gas tank and poured the old gas out and replaced the fuel pick-up with a used one I had. I also replaced the thermostat, gasket, coolant, and fan belts. I will also bleed the brakes. I would trailer the car as the tires are old school and I wouldn't risk any accidents with such a nice AMX.
