More information: Here’s some information a lot of people have been asking. Thank you all for asking, Bill When does the auction end? It ends Sunday night right around 9:00 PM EST Is the dash padded? The dash is not padded. Does the floor pans front/rear have rust or rust holes in them? The pans were metal and rivet repaired (not welded) and sealed and then covered with carpeting about one month after the purchase and looked good at that time. How many miles are on the engine since it was rebuilt? No more than 2,500. Has car been painted and how long ago? The paint is how the owner bought it over 3years ago. He would guesstimate the paint to be from maybe 1999 - 2000 time, but that is only an estimate. The only painting that I have done on the car is the engine compartment and some door panels. Can you give me the door data plate information that is on the driver’s door? 3F43F277978 65A - A - 35 - 24F - (blank) - 4 - 1 3 = 1963 F = Dearborn, Michigan assembly plant 43 = Ford Fairlane 500 2-door hardtop product code F = 260 cubic inch V-8 engine 277,978 = the 177,978th Ford scheduled for production at Dearborn for the 1963 model year. Yes and bidding was close to buying! Is the radio original? I would say yes, but it is what came with when I bought the car, which I have owned for roughly going on 4 years. Is the black color original? As you can see above, the vehicle serial number states that it would have been a black car with a red interior which is what it is today. How old is the interior? The interior was the first thing that I had done to it by a local shop in Douglasville, GA. 3 years ago. Was dash repainted? I did not, but we did touch up the doors. However, this car was professionally redone, probably not a frame off, but sandblasted to the metal, primed and totally repainted probably 7 to 9 years ago. The dash was probably all painted at that time and will get some additional touch up this year. The steering wheel was just redone over the winter. Is it dependable enough for a 5-hour trip? Yes, I have not driven on one trip 5 hours straight, probably several 2-3 hour drivers on the weekend and have never had any problems. I would jump in and drive it for 5 hours today. Ever wrecked damaged or repaired with panels or patches? Again, this car was professionally done about 7-9 years ago. Again, being under the car many times, there is no indication of any wrecks or damage. Panels all seem solid and does not have much if any Bondo or Fiberglass. It is solid. Is the mileage showing actual miles that you know of? The mileage is what is listed and I do not believe that it is any higher than that but the owner has really no way of proving it. Last person to look at the car did not like the noise the door made when it was being shut. I had my local restoration shop adjust both doors and fenders to ‘true the up’ even more than they were before. This ride is sweet and a bargain.
