Vehicle Detail
1967 Porsche 912 VIN #354647 Body type: Coupe Engine: 4-Cyl. Transmission: 5 Speed Manual Fuel type: Gasoline Exterior color: Silver with blue/red pearl Interior color: Red leather Title: Clear Condition: Used Miles: 163050 Fully and newly restored with over $31,000 invested. Originated in Tucson, AZ, moved to Missouri in 2006. This car is immaculate and one of the most pristine 912’s you will ever encounter. It is mechanically and cosmetically an impeccable piece of German machinery, a true show car, and as close to a brand new one you will ever come. Restored by a Porsche collector, and regrettably being sold to open up a garage stall for a 356 project. This car is ready to drive. I would recommend flying here to pick it up and driving it anywhere in the US, it’s reliable and comfortable to drive. I flew to Tuscon in ’06 and drove it all the way up to Missouri when I bought it. It was a gorgeous piece of machinery when I bought it, but now it is absolutely brilliant. I’ve bought, restored and sold dozens of cars, I’ll really miss this one. But can’t start a new project without letting go of one of five. • 5-Speed, manual transmission. Original number-matching 4-Cyl. engine. • 163,050 miles. • Frame-off/Glass-removed Paint job. Silver with blue and red pearl. House of Color Paint. This car has never been wrecked and there is no rust anywhere. The car was stripped to the metal when it was painted, and the car has never had rust. Original color was red. • Brand newly done red leather interior, everything redone including headliner. Even the underside of the dash has been upholstered, a very rare feature. Matching red seatbelts with Porsche emblems. Door pockets are tight and supple, ready for maps, CD’s or anything you want to store there. • New tires. • New brakes. • New High Performance battery installed with new stereo system. • Engine in perfect condition, tuned up and oil freshly changed. Clutch excellent. Starts with a slight tap of the key. • Newly installed High performance stereo system with custom resin sculpted enclosures on the speakers. This is a very powerful stereo system, the best you can buy. Subwoofer hidden under front passenger flooring (into trunk area), four Boston Acoustics speakers, two Alpine amplifiers, and Alpine CD player. (Award Winning installation by CAR-FI). Bluetooth with microphone installed in car for hand’s free phone ready to go, works with any Bluetooth capable phone. • Viper security system with electric door locks for keyless entry (remote fob included). • Euro front vanity license plate goes with car. • New front emblem. • Custom crafted real-wood accents on dash. • Chrome wheels, hubcaps and chrome horn grilles are perfect. • Auxilliary lights under front bumper (4) with blue-lit toggles on dash. • Momo steering wheel that matches interior (NOTE: original wheel included too, goes on Ebay for over $150) • All gauges work except for clock. Gave up after fourth bad clock at $150. • Dark, tinted windows done professionally with 3M product. • Heater is excellent for cooler climates. • Engine compartment and trunk area are clean and show quality. • Fire Extinguisher in trunk mounted inside fender. • Original Porsche jack and excellent spare. • Rubbers in excellent shape and redone when car was painted and the glass was out. • Turn signal lenses are all perfect. • Undercarriage clean, perfect floor pans, NO RUST. Inside of wheel wells nicely detailed, show quality. • Comes with correct owners’ manual and a Porsche dealer’s brochure in vinyl case. • Trim and seals meticulously replaced. Note the absolutely perfect seals on the torsion covers, no crimping or erosion. NEW. Paint ID #97-6602-1 (Note: Car is not painted original color) Engine #1282595 NEEDS: A lot of these pre-70 912’s are missing parts or have parts that are pitted and inferior. This car has none of that, every piece was painstakingly located and replaced if it was not absolutely excellent. Below are the only two issues that you may want to address. Otherwise, this 912 is show-quality and ready to win some awards. • One new plastic clip for driver’s side visor. Visor is upholstered and ready. • Working clock (if you can find one. I spent $150 a pop on four, none worked for long). The stereo has a clock, so unless you are more OCD than I am (which is highly unlikely), I’d just smile and enjoy the fact you’re driving a dream not caring what time it is. After an email from another prospective bidder asking for the engine number, he did some research himself. He'd assumed the engine number matched when he bought it (the issue never came up at the time), but Jeff discovered after running the numbers at the 356 registry that it indeed came out of a 1968 Porsche 912 (one year newer). I wouldn't think this would be an issue to anyone interested in this show car because it is obviously not a motorcar restored with "vintage" in mind, so much as beauty, aesthetics and more modern amenities. Jeff instructed me to delete the words "Original numbers matching" from our description, but eBay will not allow any changes once the bidding began. It was important to Jeff to disclose this fact before the end of auction so that any prospective buyers would be aware of this.
