Vehicle Detail
Up for NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!! I have a 1997 BMW Z3 convertible that will sell to highest bidder. The car has just hit 160,000 miles but drives like 60,000! This is the exact color combo of the Z3 that made its debut in James Bond’s Golden Eye minus the machine guns and missles. If you are looking at these cars look right past the 1.9 liter 4 cylinder. For the minimal difference in fuel mileage there is a huge return on driving pleasure going with the 2.8 liter I-6 cylinder that is in this model coupled with the 5 speed manual transmission. I have driven both and you will be happy you went with the 6 cylinder that delivers torque that the BMW inline 6 motors are known for. I think one of the things I love most about these little Z cars is that they are engineered in Germany and MADE IN THE USA! I just bought this car about 6 months ago to replace my last toy. I have a gas hog SUV that I use for winter and thought I would get something like this that was fun convertible that was easy on fuel. Problem is, it just hasn’t been practical for me. I have two older children that it always seems they need to go somewhere at the same time so I end up taking the SUV more then I would like. I have zero complaints about this car other then how many it seats. I am looking for a mid 2000’s Mazda 3 series 4 door hatch or sedan with manual transmission preferably if someone wants to swap. I know this description is long, but I am very detailed and my car that I sold before this was the same way and the buyer was very appreciative and had no surprises when he flew in from Tennessee to drive it home. Exterior is a beautiful Atlanta Blue (or known as James Bond Blue) with a tan top. The top was recently replaced at the tune of $1200 and is in perfect shape. The body is very nice, I only noted one noticeable door ding in front of the fuel door (pictured). The front does have rock chips that accompany this age of vehicle. The lower valance was cracked prior to me from someone likely parking to close to a curb stop and it looks like it was attempted to be touched up (pictured). That is really the only notable body damage and it is under the front of the car and down low. The right mirror stem has some paint defects, and there is a very small (about the size of a pencil lead) chip in the windshield about forehead height when you are driving. It has always been there but isn’t large and hasn’t spread and likely will not. Interior, really the only thing that dates this car on the inside is the drivers seat. The left bolster has wear from the driver getting in and out of the car. Other then that the seats are nice and not ripped or cracked. Carpets are flawless, with new $90 BMW floor mats. Steering wheel is nice with no heavy wear, no cracks in dash. Really if it were not for the light wear spot on the drivers side bolster (pictured) I would give this interior a 9 out of ten. The Z# cars are notorious for the seat rail bushing going out on the power sliding seats and makes the seat slide back and forth under acceleration. This car need the drives seat repair when I bought it and that has been done, look for that when you are looking at these cars. This car has an aftermarket polished stainless steel roll bar, it has traction control, and heated seats! Have original owners manual. Mechanically the car is perfect. I can not say t hat it needs anything. I pictured the bottom of the car, it is dry as a bone. No transmission, engine, differential, or coolant leaks or irregular noise. The AC blows cold. The car drives straight as an arrow and does not pull at all or shimmie or shake. The $800 worth of Sumitomo HTR+ performance tires with less then 3,000 miles. The oil was changed with Mobil 1 Synthetic 10-30w 2,000 miles ago along with air filter. I have a ton of documentation on the car of things that were done to it prior to me. Looks like at 20K ago the water pump, pcv, gaskets, many emission items heater core/control valve were all done for about $2k. This car has been well taken care of and I would not hesitate to bid on it from either coast fly in and enjoy the drive home with the top down. Here is the list of things that I can tell you are not working correctly or need attention. ~the odometer pixilation looks like the back lighting is not working. It is legible (pictured) but you have to block the sun to see it, it is dim but functional. ~ The air bag light comes and goes, but mostly stays on. I see no evidence of this car being wrecked. If you were worried about it working in the case of an accident I would not take the chance, and I would have a BMW dealer inspect and repair if needed. It isn’t something that concerned me. ~ The hood needs new gas struts to hold it up while working on it. I noticed when I bought it and was going to purchase them for $50, and then never had the hood up again until today when I was trying to take a picture of the motor and forgot. ~ The car does have the factory optioned subwoofer, but the previous owner told me that when they had Best Buy install the new stereo the sub was not hooked up. It may be something that can be done but currently is not. ~ Besides these small things and the noted small cosmetic blemishes everything works as it should and this car presents itself in an excellent manor. I get compliments on it every time I go out. I have a clean lein free title in my hand signed and ready for the new owner. I will not release car or title until I have funds secured (meaning if you pay by bank check, it will be deposited and verified) I prefer cash but know that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I have had friends lose property to fake bank drafts and do not want to end up in the same boat. I live 15 minutes from Kansas City’s MCI airport and would be happy to meet anyone that flies in. You are welcome to view the car before bidding. I require a $500 paypal deposit within 48 hours of auctions end and full payment within 7 days of auctions end. As long as car is paid for in full it is no rush to pick up. I keep it in a climate controlled garage and it is safe there. Thanks for reading this long description but you know what you are bidding on and I have flawless feedback. Thank you and good luck!!!
