NO RESERVE AUCTION – HIGHEST BID GETS THIS BEAUTIFUL C3 CORVETTE 1981 Corvette. Original Corvette in very good condition, needing very little to be in excellent condition. Original and strong running L81 350 v-8. Th-350 or Turbo 350 Three speed with overdrive automatic transmission. Fresh rebuilt original Rochester Quadrajet (cost $500 and is perfect). California car with CA emission controls. Car is completely original right down to mint condition T-top bags. The interior and exterior look practically brand new. Always garaged and covered since we bought it. This Corvette looks and runs great and can be driven anywhere. Truly must see to fully appreciate. I am available evenings and weekends for test drives. This Corvette was inspected last year by Corvette Mikes in Anaheim, CA. The mechanic said it was probably one of the best running 81’s he's seen. This is largely due to the recent rebuilding and tuning of the Quadrajet by George Bates Automotive, who used to drag race using Quadrajet carbs and is probably one of the best carb guy’s in CA. After the inspection it was recommended to replace the rear exhaust y pipe, transmission pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, and the rag joint in the steering linkage. This all has been done. Also, we have recently replaced the ball joints, tie rods, rebuilt the rear trailing arms, front calipers. With its custom frost blue paint, a 72 corvette color that was tweaked a little, people comment positively on the color every time I drive it. Paint is not perfect but almost perfect, with a couple of not very noticeable blemishes. Paint looks perfect from a couple feet away being very shiny and smooth. Black interior is in good condition with few not very noticeable minor flaws. By flaws I just mean it is not perfect or new, but in exceptional condition considering this car is original. We really love the car but just don’t use it enough, and we could really use the garage space and the money. Car can be driven anywhere. I want to ensure you that the car is an absolute pleasure to drive. It’s quick, handles great, and is truly and literally a real head turner. To the best of my knowledge the car is original with the exception of the color. Original drive train and no after market parts used. This C-3 Vette is 28 years old and still in great drivable condition, but it needs a few minor things. The car is priced to reflect this. My insurance appraised it at $19,500. Here is what I know to be wrong with the car to be as clear about the condition of the car as I can be. I am being brutally honest here, so there are no surprises and so that you can feel confident about bidding on this Vette. I have personally worked on this car doing repairs and tune-ups etc for hundreds of hours. So, I am very familiar with the car - any questions just ask. This car is in great shape for any car, but especially so considering its age, mileage, and the fact that it is an original driver without a major restoration. Exterior * Small crack in windshield behind rearview mirror from accidently hitting rearwiew mirror. * Couple of chips in paint, smaller than a sesame seed. * The very tip of the nose has been touched up and is noticeable when you are close and looking for it. * The hood is slightly out of alignment, I've see this in most C3 Vettes that aren’t show cars. Interior · Driver seat has small tears from a tool that was in my pocket, I believe this is repairable. · Dash has small piece that cracked off, it is not noticeable unless you look closely from outside behind the passenger side windshield pillar. · Power seat bezel is off and missing, I may be able to find and install before auction is over. · Carpet is fraying along the edge of the side panels of the shifter, and also fraying on the driver side kick panel under the dash. The rest of the carpet is in excellent condition and may have been replaced. Mechanical · Passenger exhaust manifold makes a tapping noise for about 30 to 90 seconds while warming up, usually about 3 minuets after starting. This is a sticky butterfly valve opening according to my mechanic. He offered to wire it open since it just helps the car warm up faster, but I declined because it’s not a big deal. · Small drop of oil is on the ground after the car is parked for a day or so. I recently replaced many gaskets taking care of a larger leak but it still coming from somewhere, definitely not a big deal. My 2006 Chevy express with 40K leaks as much. · I just broke a stud off the passenger rear rotor, haven’t replaced yet. I have more pics and ask for what you would like to see, if I don’t have any pics I’ll take them. This car can be in near perfect condition with very little money or time.
