Vehicle Detail

This 1987 Mercedes Benz 560SEL was the top of the line Mercedes in 1987 with a MSRP of $62,000. This is the classic styling seen on Miami Vice and in dozens of music videos and TV shows. The vehicle has a custom paint job that is in need of some touch-up to bring back to it's true beauty. It is black with heavy iridescent metal flake that glows in sun. The paint job could be restored or the car could be repainted in a more traditional Mercedes color, depending on your choice. The car draws a LOT of attention with this paint, which the pictures just can't do justice to. With a bit of paint repair, the custom paint job would look amazing. The car has VERY little rust, only visible on the rear fender wells. A previous owner had a chrome kit on the car and when they removed it there appears to have been some minor damage done to the paint around the rear fender edges. There is also some adhesive left in several areas, easily removed. The car has new tires with less than 500 miles. The car also recently had the fuel lines replaced, driver's side pittman arm rebuilt, new front breaks and an inspection by a Mercedes mechanic. The inspection found the car to be in overall very good condition and requires very little to be perfect. It will need rear breaks soon, and the sunroof is non-functional. A replacement sunroof assembly came with the car but I have not installed it. It will be included with the car. The passenger's side rear window needs a small plastic piece replaced that prevents the window from slipping off of the regulator. All power windows work. The climate control system works but the car has NOT been upgraded to r134a and needs recharged. The engine and transmission on the car function flawlessly and the performance of the car is amazing. Driven on a recent 300 mile round trip, the car yielded about 19 mpg, which is very good for this model of car. The only other area of concern with the car is a minor exhaust leak, common to this model. The exhaust system is completely intact other than for the small leak, which any competent muffler shop car repair by removing the exhaust, welding up the small leak, and reinstalling the system. This is a common problem for this model and is an easy fix, requiring less than $200 to complete. The interior of the car is in good condition. All trim panels are intact and in place. There is some minor cracking on one or two pieces of the wood trim. Replacements are easy to find here on eBay. The dash also has a minor tear in it. The ABS, air bag, adjustable column, lighting, clock, gauges, self leveling suspension and wipers all function correctly. The power locks and one-key all-lock functions work properly. Basically, all the "Gotcha's" for this particular model are functional and no major problems should be expected. The car drives well, but may need a body mount or shock absorber replaced in the near future. The car holds stead and true down the road and does not pull to either side. This is a great car, it's just not exactly what I was looking for, which is a diesel model. This is an ideal car for travel, restoration or play, and I hope the new owner enjoys her. :)
