Selling 1983 beautiful METALLIC BLACK Honda Shadow 500 (vt500c) motorcycle in excellent condition with approximately 18k miles. This is the very first year of the legendary Shadow chopper/cruiser style, non-90 degree v-twin engine with offset crank pin offering superior reliability/power (equivalent to a 750cc), water cooling, and shaft drive and therefore is destined to be highly collectible. I am the third owner of this bike which was pampered all its life. It has had a couple of minor incidents as follows: the original owner hit something in the front end and decided to take the insurance money and fix it herself rather than having it repaired so sadly it has a salvage title. The forks were replaced but not the chrome front fender which has a small crinkle (I have seen these painted black before and they looked nice and stock so that might be an easy repair alternative to getting it re-chromed or buying another). The second owner ran it off the road on his first ride and put some scratches and a very slight dimple in the tank. I overfilled the bike with gas the first time and some gas leaked out of the cap and bubbled the paint which flaked off and I touched it in with a brush. So to make it virtually perfect, fix the tank and front fender, detail it and take it to the show. It has great rubber and rides like a dream. You should be 5'9"height or less if you expect to ride this bike more than a couple hours at a time because it is a MID-SIZED bike. I am selling because I used it as an entry level bike to get back into riding after about a 30 some-odd year hiatus and now I've moved on to a bigger one. I can deliver to anywhere within about 200 miles of the Chico, California area if you pay non-refundable expenses both ways in advance.
