Vehicle Detail
Let me start off by stating this car is beautiful! Anyone who knows me knows that I am never at a loss for words. But as I sit down and write this ad, I find it to be the case. I have made a decision to sell off some of the cars I own but this one here holds a real soft spot in my heart. Back 20 some years ago I had what I believed was one of the most beautiful cars ever manufactured. It was a 1976 930. I drove this car everyday and loved it like nothing I’d ever loved before. Then wouldn’t you know it, things changed. I found myself married, becoming a father and with the persistent nagging of my wife, selling my sexy little red beast in lieu of a Volvo Wagon. Sure I was excited about the marriage and the family, but I had never gotten over selling that car. As time passed and my kids started to grow, business was good and so it happened. I got to start collecting cars. Never truly getting over my first love I searched high and low to try to buy that car back but apparently it disappeared off the planet. At this point I decided to keep my eyes open and look for the perfect replacement. After years of a long tiring search, I found it. It wasn’t a ’76 but and ’86. More horsepower, bigger brakes, colder A/C,… this might work! The car was remarkably well preserved other than an excessive amount of money spent on the power train (The odomerter was swapped out, and now reads 29k). The original paint was in almost flawless condition and the interior was as perfect as it could be for a car of this vintage. Even with such a beautiful car, I felt there was room for improvement… my original car was flawless and I thought this one should be the same way. With a game plan in mind, I brought the car over to a very reputable body shop and had it disassembled and the glass pulled and the car was repainted it’s original Porsche Red. After the car was reassembled, glass put in and color sanded to make the paint look wet, it was off to the interior shop. I pulled the original interior and re-did it all in Black with Red stitching, even the dash has Red French stitching. I got this idea from my new Porsche Turbo. The car has only logged a couple hundred miles since the restoration work was done but I find that I have to sell the car or keep paying warehouse space to house it. It was a very tough decision to sell this car but it’s one that had to be made. It feels like losing a loved one for a second time. If you’re looking for a car to use as a daily driver or drive coast to coast, this car would not disappoint you. But after all the work and time that has been put into this car, I believe it’s proper place is snuggled up tightly in a custom garage and used for weekend car shows or exotic cruise meets. As beautiful as this car is, there are still 2 very, very minor things that I would address. The back rear right rubber bumper guard has an imperfection in it and on 2 of the wheels you can see pitting in the chrome. I do have an extra set of Fuch wheels for the car but they are not color matched like the ones on the car but are the original Black and Silver. If you are the high bidder and wish to have the wheels swapped, we can talk about it. I have set the reserve on this car extremely low to make sure it sells, so if you have any questions or would like to inspect the car, please call me at (818) 802-7374 prior to the close of the auction. Thanks and good luck! I will be out of town while the auction is running with very little email access, so if you have a question please call me at (818) 802-7374.
