Vehicle Detail

This 1977 Ford Ranchero is about as good as it gets for a steel bodied truck of this size. I'm selling it after 4 years because I don't need a truck anymore. In that time, I've put about 7,000 miles on it and changed the oil a couple of times a year. Since Cash for Clunkers took most of these off the road, there are very few of these beauties around anymore. This car literally always gets attention, and my friends can't understand why I would want to sell it. This truck has a full-size bed, not the little vanity bed of Chevrolet's imitation of the style. I bought it from the son of the original owner who had the car in Wisconsin, so it has very little rust. The front bench seat, on the other hand, is toast on the driver's side - cracked through in several places, though still comfortable under the cover. This car still has original wheels and wheel covers. It's missing part of the exhaust system (thieves!) from the resonator back, but I expect the person who buys this car will want to choose their own custom pipe. So instead of replacing it, I've priced it accordingly. Also, it has the original AM radio (it works!). Minor details: the hood latch release cable snapped, so I ran it through the front grille. The wipers only work at one of the two speeds. I painted it at Maaco about two years ago. The color is a stock metallic orange, so touchup paint is easy to find - no custom mixing. At that point, we pulled all the dents out of the body and sanded out all the rust. Local rust has come back on one wheelwell and on the tailgate, which you'll see in the picture: a little bit of unevenness under the paint. In spite of these cosmetic details, this is a beautiful car that gets a lot of attention. For the right owner, this will be a great ride. It's ready to go right now: drives great on the highway and great around town, but it could also reward a little tweaking. This car always starts, but it starts hard when cold. I've never gotten stranded in this car. It has, however, taken some cranking on occasion, and it tends to need a little coaxing on cold starts. It burns a little oil, but someone with a better knowledge of tune ups could probably fix both of these problems with a screwdriver and a few minutes of troubleshooting.
