Vehicle Detail
1947 Chrysler Town & Country Convertible ~Straight 8 Engine~ ~Semi-Automatic Transmission~ In 1940 my Dad opened his Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in a small Kansas town. He took this Chrysler in trade in 1949 and resold it, only to have it traded back to him in 1953. At that time it needed engine work, and he put it in storage. This car has not spent a night outside since. In the early 1960's during a slow sales period, Dad's mechanics rebuilt the engine. About the same time the vehicle was repainted, new upholstery and a new convertible top installed. The car was restored to resemble a 1948 Town & Country Dad had owned and is therefore not done to 1947 paint or upholstery specifications. . All exterior wood is original, and in excellent condition, and the wood in the trunk area is also original and in excellent shape. There is no rust, nor has it had any bodywork. Mileage is 89,300, and the vehicle has not been driven any real distance since 1992, but has been started periodically. It may need some minor tweaks to get it on the road again, however. The convertible top mechanism worked the last time it was engaged, but it has been several years. Inquiries as to its current running condition are welcome and will be answered to the best of Dad's knowledge, and our (his kids) observational skills. Dad collected Mopars for most of his life, and is now selling the final two cars remaining, the Town & Country being one. He regrets that failing health made it impossible for him to maintain his vehicles in mechanically sound condition. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The successful bidder on this auction will be expected to make a $2,000 deposit via PayPal upon close of the auction, with the balance due within 7 days of close of auction.
