I am selling my 1966 Ford Mustang. I took this car in trade for a VW Notchback about 2 years ago. At that time I was on-call at work and had time to tinker on cars. Within two months after I got this car I went back to work full time. I always expected to “get to it someday”, but apparently that is a pipe dream. I don’t know a whole lot about engines so I will copy verbatim what the guy I bought it from wrote for me. He did the engine rebuild. Engine. Machine work that was done. Cam custom machined. Crank turned, engine bored .040 over. All new pistons, rings, rods, and bearings. Total rebuild. Has less than 2 miles on it. Swapped out for a 302. The engine as 64 numbers on it. Last 260 were made in 1964. Power steering pump is an E-ton and has been totally rebuilt. Transmission came out of a 67 Cougar with a 302. It is a 74 C-4 transmission with 260 bell housing 5 bolt. Driveline was shortened to fit approximately 1 ½”. C-4 transmission mount emergency brake hooked up and fabricated. Carburetor has been rebuilt. Engine has clutch fan and flex hoses. Car has no a/c only heater. New used fuel tank has been installed. This contained a fuel-sending unit. New radiator installed. New speedometer cable. Glass in perfect shape. Extra front body parts. Light buckets in trunk along with license plates catalogs and chrome. Interior in semi-good shape. Headliner bows still in place. What needs done—body work, new grill, new taillight lenses, and some light trim. Front end and rear end parts. Steering assembly changed out from pitman arm to spindles, all came out of a V8 car. Spindles and drums off of V8 car. Transforming to 5-lug from 4-lug. Upper ball joints new. Bottom A-arms and ball joints new. Springs V8 new. Spring saddles new New coil spring insulators Rear end 8” shorty 5 lug. New rear shackles New front shocks Front end has been built properly for V8 to be installed. Brakes. New rear brake line Rebuilt master cylinder New metal brake lines from master cylinder out New brake lines down to front wheels New engine cradles New motor mounts New shift rod and attachments Custom exhaust system. Dual with H-pipe and cherry bomb mufflers. So here it is. I know nothing about these engine and transmission terms. I just like classic cars. I do know that this engine sounds mean and looks beautiful. I would love to finish this car, but my wife has convinced me we could use the money more than I could use the dream of completing it. It needs nothing mechanically, but it does need work cosmetically. The body is pretty darn straight but has holes where a fender was pulled out, and has some rust. The rust is not too bad. If you do body work or have a friend who does, this is a steal of a deal. If you need to take it to a paint shop, it will cost about $1000 in bodywork. The guy I got it from was a law enforcement officer and a very honest man. He included most of his receipts, but did not have all of them. The receipts he gave me totaled about $1513. I know you will not be disappointed. This car may have started life as a 6 cylinder, but it was converted perfectly to an 8 cylinder. The guy had every intention of keeping this car for the long haul, but wanted my Notchback so bad, he parted with his project Mustang. Now I need this car gone. I listed it on eBay and sold it 2 months ago, but the deadbeat (teenager from Sweden) didn’t pay. Ebay requires that you give them a ridiculous amount of time to make it right. Well he didn’t so it is back up for grabs. Last time I listed it with a reserve, this time I need it gone, so NO RESERVE for you! Good luck. Call me if you have questions.
