Up for sale is my 1985 300D with a very reliable 5 cylinder diesel engine.I've owned it for the past 6 years and I've made at least 2 trips to Miami (2200 miles round trip) in it and it is my choice for long distance trips. This car is safe, reliable and economical. ENGINE: Starts right up with clean exhaust, no leaks and steady idle. Can be driven anywhere. At idle, the tach is at 700, and oil pressure is initially at max, then settles down just above the middle of range. TRANSMISSION: shifts smoothly through all gears as it should with no hesitation. EXTERIOR: Original cream paint is shiny. Some repaired rust near wheel wells. Small dent on trunk molding area. Underside in very good condition INTERIOR: Driver's seat and rear seat in close to perfect condition - almost like new. Passenger seat has some small imperfections. All seats are firm and supple with no sag. Headliner is clean. Dash in overall good condition with a few hairline cracks - barely noticeable. Glass and tires good all around. All 4 power windows work. Power locks work, but vacuum hose needs to be connected. Power Sunroof works well. AC blows but not cold, maybe needs charging. STARTING/DRIVING: Starts on first turn every time with smooth idle. Good compression and passing power. At highway speed of 65 mph, tach is just below 3000 rpm, temp gauge is right in the middle of range, and steering is firm and predictable. Great for long trips, I hate to part with this reliable diesel, since they are hard to find in this condition, but my kid is off to college and I have to make some sacrifices. RECENT WORK: new glow plugs, replaced glow plug relay, new ignition tumbler, new shifter bushings, exhaust flex pipe replaced 5 years ago Car has never quit on me and has been an example of reliability and long distance driving; has needed only routine maintenance. Bid often and appreciate the truly classic nature of these cars.
