Vehicle Detail
I feel like when I found this car it was like winning the lottery. My wife and myself were with 2 other couples in the back of a limo on our way to a wine tasting party when we past a house that had the most intriguing, original looking Porsche parked in the driveway. I made the driver turn the limo around and in Black Tie knocked on the door hoping to be able to talk the owner into selling me this car. As luck would have it, the door was never answered and off to wine tasting we went. The entire night while my wife and all my friends were talking about the boldness, bouquet and slight oak taste of different wines, I found it extremely annoying and thought to myself why aren’t they talking about that Porsche? After about 2 weeks of thinking about this car day and night, I knew there was only one thing to do…tell my wife that I’d like to bring her out for a nice drive and then suddenly show up at the house where I had seen the Porsche in the driveway. When we arrived back at the house, my wife thought that I was some sort of fool and that the people would think I was some sort of nutcase knocking on a random door. But with the push of a bell, the door was answered by a middle aged lady with a perplexed look on her face. When I explained why I was there, she said “sure, we’ll sell the car it‘s only been sitting in my husbands warehouse for about the last 20 years”…let me go get my husband. When the husband arrived, he was extremely nice but did not have the same passion of selling the Porsche as his wife did. As we sat talking, he told me about how his father had bought the car and passed it on to him and he never planned on selling the car, but his wife had been bugging him since the car did little more than take up space. He also revealed to me that the car only had a little over 67,000 miles and had Factory Air Conditioning! A ‘72 Porsche with low miles and factory A/C… at this point I realized how rare the car was, and this wasn’t going to be a cheap purchase. He then went on to mention that for approximately the last 20 years the car just sat in his warehouse only being started occasionally to keep the seals fresh. He also mentioned that he decided to have the car disassembled and repainted a few years ago (from it’s original paint) and spend more time driving and enjoying the car that once made his father so happy! When I checked out the paint code on the car, it read 700-9-2. At this point my knees went weak and my heart started pounding realizing that this car was an original Black car. One of very few that was a special order vehicle. Without trying to show my excitement, I asked him what he would take for the car and he said make me an offer? With no sense of self control, I just kept making offer after offer until I was able to purchase this vehicle. Once the deal was made and the car was paid for I drove it straight over to my mechanic and had him go through the engine, trans, fuel system, suspension and brakes and do whatever was necessary to put this car into excellent working condition (very little work was needed). This car was so well preserved it was amazing! The biggest dilemma I had with this car was the fact that it was not the original Factory Black but beautifully repainted a Porsche color. After days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, I could not bring myself to repaint the car to it’s original Black because the paint was of to beautiful quality and a very, very nice hue... It just screamed vintage! With the car running and looking the way it was, I thought to myself, what can I spend money on? Then it came to me, I must have the interior redone with the vintage Hounds Tooth and make the car into a business mans coupe. So the near perfect interior was removed and replaced with a period correct Porsche Hounds Tooth interior. The car runs, drives and looks beautiful and the restoration on this car as well as so many of my cars was only completed within the last few months. I have talked to different collectors and got their opinion on what they think this car is worth and most of them agree, because of it’s Rarity and Originality/Factory A/C and Miles the price is unknown. For this reason, I have set an extremely, ridiculously low reserve on the car so I will leave it up to you, the bidders to determine the true value of this car. If you have any questions or would like to see the car, please call me at (818) 802-7374. Before making a bid on this car, I strongly suggest that you take the time to come out and inspect this vehicle because I’m sure you, like myself will be totally amazed at the original condition of this vehicle. Please do not bid on the car and then want to have it checked out...that will not happen! And if you’re wondering if the cars air conditioning system works good enough to keep you cool on the hottest of California days, the answer is YES! I’m truly hoping a collector buys this car and not just your average Porsche lover. You do realize how rare this car is, don’t you!??? I will be out of town while the auction is running and my email access will be limited, so if you have a question please call me at (818) 802-7374.
