This is a 1991 VW Passat Wagon 2.0L Auto. It runs and drives but, the trans is in safe mode (it only has drive and reverse no lower gears), First I replaced the tranny with a lower miles tranny (80,000 Miles on it), It did the same thing so I chased some wiring diagrams and I think it is the TCM (transmission control module) I replaced it with a junkyard tcm and it didn't fix it so I stopped messing with it. The other problem which might be part of the TCM problem is that it wont start with the key like it is not in park or neutral, I have it rigged so you can start it with the relay for now. Any way the body is straight the interior is in good shape, it has been sitting for a while but you go to start it and it fires right up.
